Suspension on the FZ-09 is far from 'very poor'. It's plenty capable to scrape pegs in the turns without incident. Stock they come sprung for an ~170lb rider.

I went from a 60 to a 70 on my R6. Adjusted the forks 6mm to compensate. For track, it was easier to pull the bike down at increased lean angles. I found with the 60 you would have to push-steer harder to lean the bike futher.

Ran a ZVMX 520 chain before. Suppose to be a 'heavy-duty' 520 chain. Found it didn't wear any better than the previous regular D.I.D. chain. Picked up a ERV3 this time. Changed up gearing slightly as well. Originally -1/0, now -1/+1.

You said it, it's a track day and not a race.... with that being said, I don't think you understand what a track day is yet. There are rules for passing in corners at 95% of the track days. It's rare for riders to take eachother out in corners.

My race Hindle (straight through) on R6 passes with flying colours. Never repacked.

Yamaha is doing some great things with the new FZ's. Great power, weight and price. They should sell well on this side of the pond.
