Gravel is a problem when it's unexpected, if you know you're riding on a slippery / uneven surface you can adjust for that, that's all I meant.

I also just picked up a pair of the Joe Rocket kevlar jeans with knee armour... they're a little long but quite comfortable!

Why not just go slower through the "twisties" until you get the hang of it? You know about counter/push steering, right? It always works... get some confidence to gain experience, and ride at your own pace!
