Winter Tires ... where do you get them?

Don't forget about the CC cookies in the waiting room.. or Nino D'aversa Bakery across the street!

Winter Tires ... where do you get them?

Changes are more muted if you are comparing across tire brands and models, but if all things are equal, and you retain the tire diameter/tire pressure, downsizing will give you less rim, and a taller sidewall. That will theoretically give you a more supple ride, or give your suspension "more give".

Any recommendations on earphones (music, google maps directions) for riding ?

Grabbed the Pioneers due to the feedback from the above, and I've been very happy with them. I'm listening to more and more podcasts while I ride these days, and for speech, they are terrific with the active noise cancellation calibrated. I'm a bit wary of the long-term durability with the cord...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Before I go poking through the classifieds in the states, are used Bolts starting to come up from time to time? Love the shift from Honda with the Accord/Insight hybrids. Tiny battery pack under the rear seats, zero loss of space in the trunk, petrol engine mainly acting as a generator to net...

AWD vs. FWD ... in snow

As a formula 1 fan, its pretty easy to predict which tire manufacturer will produce great consumer tires. Michelin spanked Bridgestone in the early 2000's, and they still produce top ranking tires across all categories that wear better than the competition. Bridgestone has always been a...

Winter Tires ... where do you get them?

Yeah, Hak's are king, but too bad so few retailers sell them (Kal tire mainly). Scored a set nearly new for the SUV @ $3xx in the summer, STEAL. We run xice's on four of my immediate family's vehicles. According to other's experiences with Michelin's treadwear warranty also makes it a...

Winter Tires ... where do you get them?

Tire test including xice3 and ws80. Cliffs: they're both the same (give or take), but the xice3's will last you longer. https://tekniikanmaailma.fi/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/tm_17_2016_english.pdf

AWD vs. FWD ... in snow

+ whatever it costs (for repairs) if you were to ever need to panic stop behind someone that is also panic braking but with winter tires.

AWD vs. FWD ... in snow

Lots of good stuff above. Not clear from the OP, but are you working with a budget (buying used) and is your commute during regular rush hour in the city? If yes to all the above, a regular fwd car with set of winters (kinda silly to only run 2 winter tires when you can get a full set of older...

    A comfortable SS?

My 5th gen vfr (99-2001) was acquired for a hair over $3000 2 years ago, with full kappa racks/cases. Low miles too and took it out for nearly 8 hours on it's maiden voyage. Surprised the heck out of me for ergos for an average sized person. Insurance was only $180/year more than my ex500. Big...

    What's better in Ontario?

Exactomundo My 4x4 is old, slow, poor on gas, but reliable transport. Feels like a magic carpet on my daily commute compared to my former sedan or any sports car. So happy with that switch. My vfr is not exactly sporty, but I ride that to "see Ontario" and explore on weekend mornings to clear...

Anyone been fired as a customer from mechanic?

Sorry to hear from both sides, but Ace has been great to me as well. Just wanted to share that how a business conducts itself is unique to every owner. Sure they all want to be in the black, and somewhat enjoy life and time off, and everyone eventually gets to a point where they either go big...

    Weather threads here.

Any tips for doing m exit course this weekend for Sunday 8am-5pm? Looks like it will be major muggy, 40*c with humidity and decent chance of rain towards early/late afternoon. /gulp Will make sure the pinlock is clean.. probably skip the gortex jacket and suck it up in revit airwave jacket..

Anyone into intermittent fasting or time restricted eating?

Since this is your first month, I commend and support you "fighting the urge". I find drinking half a glass of water (instead of giving in to eating) will subside the hunger 90% of the time. Mostly a craving more than a necessity. Probably triggered by someone eating a lovely smelling lunch or...

Toronto to Halifax & Cabot Trail

Hi OP, I'm planning to do an east coast trip with the wife in our SUV during the same time period. I'll probably be camping in the SUV between days at a nice hotel--Lake placid, Vermont (jay peak), and Bar Harbor--not going all the way to NS though. Super loose schedule, stop where we want.

Anyone into intermittent fasting or time restricted eating?

Do you like hummus? or DIY Guac? The big bag of bean chips at Costco is also mighty good. Ditto. Would depend heavily on the types of food you eat. Carbs is okay, carbs with refined sugar = no bueno.

Anyone into intermittent fasting or time restricted eating?

Great to see your feedback. Oh boy do I know that feeling.. I still routinely destroy bags of chips. Favorite so far are the PC Siracha/Buffalo flavors that go on sale (often). And whenever I eat junk food, I am sure to make it to the gym that day and the next. Keeps me sane but boy do I...

    stiff neck while riding

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hxar8p0WcIM&feature=youtu.be Stiff neck? Before you waste time on chiro's, you probably have a muscle imbalance somewhere. Echoing FLSTC you can probably sort it out with some exercise and stretches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hxar8p0WcIM&feature=youtu.be

Anyone into intermittent fasting or time restricted eating?

According to the sleep expert, this is the conundrum. You feel like you'll get all the sleep you want when you are gone, but the lack of (using this term loosely) proper sleep will effectively shorten your lifespan with higher chances of (insert ailment here). Stuff like heart disease...

Anyone into intermittent fasting or time restricted eating?

I sort of do a version of IF full time, but with flexibility on the weekends—highly recommended. I cook double portions, so I basically eat last night’s leftover dinner for breakfast, and dinner. Eat at 6:30am, and typically don’t eat until 6:30pm. Not eating during the working hours means less...
