    Big Bike Thread

Most of what I know is north and east.... Like in the muskokas to Bancroft and east to calabogie. I know some areas in Pennsylvania too. Creemore area has a lot of not maintained stretches, and of course all around the ganny there are non maintained back roads, but that area is way too sandy...

    Big Bike Thread

I do a fair amount of 'light dirt' riding (and sometimes I get into more than I should) with a big bike... okay, big as in weight and size, but small in cc's compared to yours (it's a dl650). I likely do a lot of riding that you'd be interested in (fire roads, hydro cuts, non maintained roads...

    I Saw You: V.2.0

Saw another bike with sidecar today near Acton... possibly a Ural. I guess it's sidecar season.

Re: 2017 moto touring plans - The Florida Keys Suddenly I feel I belong to this forum, now that the famous inreb himself is quoting me. ? I need to actually use my camping hammock this year and do some very light weight motocamping with the drz... Hopefully up in the capreol to Timmins area...

    I Saw You: V.2.0

Saw a goldwing (most likely) with a sidecar on nahani drive, near hurontario and Eglinton.... He was bundled like a snowmobile rider, but still must have been cold! Sent from my LG-H812 using Tapatalk

Parks Canada - Free Pass for 2017

Last year I went up to Bruce Peninsula National Park (one of the parks that will be free).... and at 10am they were already turning away day visitors as they were full... this was on a weekend in mid-summer, but being full at 10am at full price means this summer will be nuts especially when kids...

    Motorcycle Movies Thread

I watched this movie the other day... more about bars than bikes, but is a guy on a bike (with sidecar): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1388390/ IMDB gives it way more stars than I would.

    EagleRider Experience

No experience, but was just reading up on them today. Apparently they have a membership program which you pay $29 initiation and $29/month for a year and you get 12 rentals out of that... might be the better option... $377... but check to see if your location is one that participates...

Shipping to the US for Winter Riding

Just in case you are still considering shipping your bike, here is one company I found: http://www.1aamotorcycles.com/ although you'd likely have to take your bike to Buffalo. From Buffalo to Dallas is $650. I've considered this option for one way trips.... i.e. ride my bike to the West Coast...

    Valve Adjustment intervals and reliability?

Bear in mind that different valve types will have different service intervals (or none at all)... but some valve types are also easier to adjust than others: http://www.dansmc.com/valveclearence.htm For example... The DRZ 400 has a 24000km inspection interval and uses shim type valve...

    WTF kijiji ad?

Granted, I haven't seen many tire machines as I typically do it myself, but what I had in mind were the manual DIY setups a lot of people have: Although in this case it doesn't matter about the rim at all, so spoons would work fine and no need to raise the wheel off the ground as no disc...

    WTF kijiji ad?

I'm guessing the tire would have to be removed from this rim with spoons... I can't think of any tire machines I've seen that don't use the hub. Looks like a Pilot Road too; looks a lot like the PR4 I have.

    Trans-Lab 2017

This is what the road is like between the crater and the east coast, for the most part:

    Trans-Lab 2017

The huge crater is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manicouagan_crater There is free camping right on the shore of it: I doubt all of the trans-lab is paved yet... they are working on it, but have a lot of ground to cover (1000+km)... Most of the gravel was very smooth and very fast... like a...

    WTF kijiji ad?

I had this ad come up today on my RSS feed and couldn't help but ask myself WTF... how did he do this to that wheel? Why wouldn't he take the tire off if he really wants to sell this? What purpose is a rim of a cast wheel that has had the hub broken out...

    GPS Map

If you want free but illegal, head to pirate bay and search for garmin and download navigator or metroguide (or even topo maps). If you want free and legal google open street maps for garmin... there is a website that allows you to select an area and a .img file is generated that you can load...

    Where's the sledding???

It's pretty easy to determine which trails are open: http://ofsc.mapbase.ca/viewer/ -- still mostly red, but some green north and east of the GTA.

The central highlands - Travel To Vietnam

My brother lived in Phnom Penh for about a year, and we have a mutual friend who has been there 10 or 12 years now, without issue. It goes without saying that you should stay away from criminal activity (gangs, drugs, soliciting prostitutes, etc)... the armed security your company provides is...

Ontario Budet Talks 2017 Lane Splitting

In fact, according to this study: https://crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov/Api/Public/ViewPublication/811366 12.2% percent of crashes at intersections are into stopped vehicles... i.e. rear ended, which to motorcyclists means serious injury or death. One of the only higher percentages is 22% for left...

Ontario Budet Talks 2017 Lane Splitting

Exactly... everyone's reaction and vision is 20/20... until a moment of not paying attention causes them to miss where the squealing brakes are coming from... or where a bird is coming from. I've hit birds before on the road... and have very nearly been rear ended. Filtering at the very least...
