Why aren't Ninja HR2 street legal in Ontario?

"The H2R wasn't designed to go fast, it was designed to separate the men from the boys." --Translation from the Japanese press-kit when the H2R launched in 2015.

Iron 883 one of the most beautiful and also maligned motorcycle

Like everything, it depends on the person. Stock seats on any bike seem universally awful for their intended purpose. I would dig around cruiser-specific forums and see what the lowdown is. Motorcyclists are natural complainers, so finding a model that fits the bill should be easy, not to...

Iron 883 one of the most beautiful and also maligned motorcycle

Obligatory "I see what you did there!" My two cylinders: some version or another of the Sportster has been sold for 50 years. I find it hard to believe that qualifies as maligned.

Anyone having second thoughts regarding motorcycling in general ?

I left out the ;) but after some digging, a 5spd GT with stock turbo was capable of low 13s in the right hands. Not sure if it was a 2006+ which had the "high output" turbo/injectors, or if the Mopar stage 1 kit was applied. There were slips to prove it apparently, though I didn't see them--the...

Anyone having second thoughts regarding motorcycling in general ?

For those in the know, the rare turbo ragtop PT cruiser is the ultimate sleeper. @nakkers: Just let my sticker expire, prepping to sell, so I know the feeling. At least you get a cool roadster out of the situation.

    Newfoundland 2up on a Burgman?

OP doesn't own a Burgman yet. While a great platform, servicing them properly is a nuisance-and-a-half. Plenty of awkward, interlocking bodywork around the engine. Shops are pretty reluctant to work on them, beyond oil changes. After 15 years, a lot of maintenance has probably been neglected...

    No more drive clean!

Whatever pollution controls municipal vehicles may have, I see TTC buses belch soot on the regular. Same goes for schoolbuses and garbage trucks (public+private). Delivery trucks vary, some seem quite controlled. I remember the terrible smog not too long ago, especially when Lakeview spooled up...

Night time riding? What is the really hazard?

IIRC, David L Hough's advice on night riding is quite succinct: "Don't."

    Newfoundland 2up on a Burgman?

Practical fuel range is about 200km. 2003s are fine (60K and still going strong here) but I wouldn't recommend any 15 year-old bike for a long trip. Stock suspension a bit mushy, probably more so 2up + luggage. Upgrades are pretty simple though. Stock seat is meh, like most stock seats. Agree on...

    New Katana

Pop-up headlight? No. Air/oil cooled 1100C I4? No. Styled by ex-BMW designer? No. I'm sure it's a fine re-skin of a GSX-S, itself a good bike. Just don't call it a Katana, Suzuki. Failing this, they should have revived the older air/oil 1200 Bandit with extra snorty character. Instead, they...

Helmet Exemption Coming for Sikh Motorcyclists in Ontario

Only if they didn't produce children before a fatal collision, which is probably only true in poor countries where 2-wheelers are prevalent and the government doesn't give a damn about anyone. Also, the annual percentage of traffic-related deaths relative to global population is about 0.00017%...

Road rage in GTA. Van rams motorcyclist.

Who won the 1997 GP with Barney's Version. Very clever, Mister Canlit. Still, Trials should stick with three. You'll need some hidden biblical symbolism to edge out the other short-listers. Also, Cadillac was originally a French medieval river port for Castle Benauges in Gascony. One of it's...

That's Giller Prize material right there. "Three Semi-Drunk Bikers In A Gold Cadillac On Broadview Avenue."

"Don't have time to ride anymore": WTF?

Some people really need a crash course in statistics/probability. Pun may be intended.

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2018 Edition)

Dude, Halloween is basically over, now that cosplaying is a year-round thing. We'll be seeing Christmas decorations at the mall shortly. I think the real question is: Do you use your consumer product more frequently than others on the forum, thus proving yourself a better individual? As a...

"Don't have time to ride anymore": WTF?

Well said, Mr. Kiwi. On the knife's edge of deciding to cancel insurance + sell myself. Work is exhausting and the carrot of looping a few distant roads is outweighed by the stick of a highway drone through endless suburbia. No friends or family ride, so using the weekends for daytripping means...

Helmet Exemption Coming for Sikh Motorcyclists in Ontario

Pretty close. Churches, synagogues, temples and mosques enjoy exemptions from property taxes in Canada, up to a point. They have to be in active use, I think or they lose the protection (no closing the place and holding on to it untaxed). It's a holdover from earlier times when governments...

    Hammer Road Rage?

Fleeing the scene of a possible assault is probably detrimental to one's credibility. Deciding to carry a hammer around for "defense" while riding a motorcycle would seem to indicate poor judgement. Hopefully someone can locate the correct self-incriminating YouTube channel.

Own Canadian marijuana stocks? Then you can't ride into the US.

Adding "Are you involved in supporting the legalized marijuana industry in Canada?" to the questioning checklist is trivial. Is it petty? Irrational? A waste of resources? That hasn't proven an impediment to global leadership lately, even on much more serious issues. We know smartphones are 24/7...
