these bikes are crap, don't buy it. suzuki threw these bikes together to compete in the v twin market. they are poorly enginered and the electricial is unreliabel even now that it's so old. as a mechanic, they are the worst bike to work on, all the intruder line of suzuki.

the bike will run like crap without the airbox, the air box inside volume is very important to the inlet with the stacks inside for the proper engine performance

check your oil level with the bike up right not on the sidestand, too much oil in the crankcase can cause this problem

i use a right angle dental pick to scrape out the grove and rinse with brake clean. that build up of crud presses against the seals on to the pistons preventing the pistons to retract. if you aren't replacing the seals... make sure you clean the backside of the seals with your thumb nail don't...

trying to start the bike with the tender hooked up will kill the tender due to amp draw, pull a spark plug cap and install a good spark plug and ground it to the engine to check for spark.

you might have charging problems in the future, lighting systems are balanced with the charging systems, how is the amp draw at idel ?
