They're certainly not great, but I don't think they're terrible to the point where you're better off ditching them as soon as you get the bike. Especially for a brand new rider

Sounds like I saw this a little late, but that initial bike you looked at, not a great deal. I sold my '14 SE ABS for $4k last august with ~7000km on it. Never dropped, not a scratch on the thing.

Depends on your definition of cold... It also allows some of us folk who commute downtown to avoid the sardine can/subway.
