    Odometers off for motorcycle training?

I was browsing some ads for motorcycles and came across this: http://wwwa.autotrader.ca/a/Honda/REBEL%20250/SCARBOROUGH/Ontario/5_12310582_ON20090325093818745/?ms=motorcycles_atvs What struck me as odd was this part in the description: "this bike was used for motorcycle training, thefore the...

Gear that offers the best protection

I think it's time for this thread to die gracefully before we get into weird arguments about gear vs. skill. The question was about gear quality and I got a lot of great advice about it, arguing about the importance of gear vs. skill is kind of pointless since they're both obviously important...

Gear that offers the best protection

hah, I just realized it sounded like some sort of after-school special.

Gear that offers the best protection

That alone triggered my b.s. detector and I hope other new riders can see it too. As a new rider I will not have good riding ability. If anything that makes good gear MORE important to newer riders (not that's it's not important for experienced ones).

Thanks. Yeah, the advice has been great, there's a lot of stuff people pointed out that I never knew. Thank you everyone!

Gear that offers the best protection

I can't do anything about any of that until the spring. The only thing I can focus on now is the gear and since winter is approaching I'm expecting that there are good deals going around so I'm trying to figure out what's worth buying. I don't think you're really listening to me: Again: I...

Gear that offers the best protection

As I've said: Avoiding an accident is ideal, no doubt about it. But **** happens and when it does I want the most protection. It might not help in a devastating crash but if the added armor makes a difference between a scratch and a broken bone or a ligament tear I'm willing to invest in it.

Gear that offers the best protection

I've actually been trying to find something like that but didn't see it in a lot of the online stores I've looked at. Thanks for the recommendation

Gear that offers the best protection

That's good to know. If I end up commuting on the bike I'll definitely have to think about that.

Gear that offers the best protection

Very cool, will definitely look around for it and try it on. I just hope it fits me since I usually wear size 34-36 jackets and their smallest is 38.

Gear that offers the best protection

To be honest I'm not really sure what exactly I'll be doing with the bike. Right now it's touring around that interests me and for that it makes sense to spend 15-30 mins gearing up. If I do end up wanting to commute to work and run errands I might have to rethink my approach. As far as how it...

I'll be doing both :) Maybe I'm paranoid but it's better to be over prepared than under.

Gear that offers the best protection

Something like that looks perfect for the cruiser route. I'm just not sure about the protection pads, the description doesn't really say much about them.

Gear that offers the best protection

Thanks again. One more question: I'm just getting into the sport and have yet to buy a bike. I'm still undecided if I want a sporty bike or a cruiser. Would a 1-piece suit be very uncomfortable on a cruiser? (I know it might look a bit goofy but like I said before I don't really care).

Gear that offers the best protection

Thanks guys, that was a lot of good info. What about the certifications? I heard there was one that has higher standards than DOT for helmets but I can't remember it now (snell? shell? something like that). Is CE the strictest one for elbows, shoulders, knees and back armor? And yes, this is...

My real name is Daniel, most people call me Dan I was watching Sons of Anarchy when I registered on this forum. Dan + anarchy = danarchy A (cheesy) interpretation I figured out afterwards is "Dan's own brand of anarchy". Mind you, I'm a quiet computer geek and not even close to being the...
