How do you deal with generally unpleasant people?

This is exactly what I would do ^. When I'm riding my motorcycle, I will always pull over to the right (if and when safe to do so) if I don't feel comfortable with the way someone is driving. Honestly, I question the mentality and maturity level of some motorcycle riders when they indicate...

For those 35+: Did you start riding b/c of a midlife crisis?

I got my M2 at the age of 46. My son was 18; had graduated from high school and was moving to the U.S. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad for the opportunity my son had to go to the U.S. But I realized how easy it was for him just to "leave me" (after 18 years of raising him alone). That's when I...

Helmet on ground to indicate rider needs help

I was the friend with Lorgayle, and you're right. And like she said, that's what we figured too. We did kind of look like we were just relaxing; trying to stay out of the sun :) This is the second time in as many weeks that my bike has broken down. But this time, I had (adult) company and...

    Please recomend a 250cc cruiser

Thanks for the links, Major. You are absolutely right; every rider is different. And therefore, I don't believe your above statement is a fact. I myself may be looking for a cruiser in the future. For the type of riding I do, basically point A to B, a 250 would be just fine.

    CBR250 on 400-Series highway

There is nothing wrong with someone posting for an opinion or to read of someone elses experience. So, you found out all by yourself that taking your cbr125 "on the high wall...was slow...". That's good. Like the OP, I like to get other people's opinions; read about their experiences. And...

    1st Niagara Motorcycle Show

Well, that's disappointing. I sent an email and the response I received was that "all motorcycles would be respresented". Suppose I won't waste my time, or $20. I was hoping to pick up a mesh jacket.

New Rider Training - Private Lessons

OP, like others have said, the M1 to M2 course really does teach you what you need to know. I personally had never been on a motorcycle before taking the CMA course in August, 2009. Your wife will be just fine. You'd be surprised at the amount of people who have never actually been on a...

    Why I quit riding motorcycles.

Of course there is obviously a "strong reaction" and people do "care". Otherwise, why did people bother reading the article and/or posting a comment? The title alone should have been enough of an indicator what the article was going to be about. As far as it being "another stupid article...

    Why I quit riding motorcycles.

Very good insight, and maturity. I believe the latter is sorely lacking in this forum. I repeat. It all comes down to choice and respect. Plain and simple! Imagine how boring this world would be if we were all the same?

My first long trip - Riding to NYC

Thanks for the explanation, Johnny5. I suppose it's just a matter of getting used to a different type of motorcycle. The 125 didn't have a choke. I miss the FI. I'll get used to it though.

My first long trip - Riding to NYC

First, have a safe trip! I'd like to travel a distance by bike, one day. But it would be backroads for sure. Sorry, I don't have any advice, suggestions, etc. I'm sure someone else will though. But, I do have a question. I just bought a 2005 Ninja 250r a week ago. (My last bike was a CBR125)...

    Why I quit riding motorcycles.

Well said! I got my M2 in August, 2009. My then 18 y.o. son asked if he could get his license. If my son had gotten his M2, I would have stopped riding. My choice. End of.

    Why I quit riding motorcycles.

Personally, I thought it was a well-written article. I enjoyed reading it. The man made a choice. I admire and respect that. I believe there are riders on this forum who will continue to ride and endanger themselves (and others) when clearly they should hang up their bike keys. "Attitude...

Not "old fashioned" at all. Very admirable, and sweet! I hope she knows how you feel. Women like to know. Trust me.

New Rider - GZ250 Suzuki Marauder

Welcome! I like your bike. In fact, I thought for sure a 250 Marauder was going to be my first bike. When I took the course, one of the students rode his on the second day and let me sit on it.

Girls, when you dropped your bike, who helped you lift it up?

I would have to say I agree with this ^. One of the reasons I sold my first bike, among other reasons, was the weight. My second bike (125 CBR), was much easier to handle, and lift. Just purchased a 250 Ninja and believe me, I'm going to try and do everything in my power not to let that thing...
