I didn't know about the xc155, just googled it.
Looks a lot like the honda pcx150 (Who copied who ? ;)
Have you ridden the Honda? (pcx150). If so, how do they compare?
I just rode the pcx at Honda's RTR / GetFeetWet on the weekend for the first time.
Only got to ride it at 10-15 mph, but...
Heh, I watched them ride, there were only two "straights" where it was possible to wind it out even a bit for ~2 seconds. The rest was ~10 mph tight turns.
I was there yesterday, and spent the majority of my time at the Get-your-feet-wet (no license yet for me )
GYFW was great !
I've only ridden a mo-bike twice before yesterday. 1) A CT70 when they were being produced new when I was in grade school, (heh look that date up), and another small...
Did you ? (binn) ? If so, what was the $$ ?
$150 for the body panels is not exactly cheap (for me).
Though I guess you just add ~150 to the price of the course right off the bat :/
Or do the body panels need to be more than just scratched to be charged ~$150 ?
At the Toronto Indy this weekend, I saw a scooter with the logo "Simon" on it being used by the pit crews.
A quick google search hasn't turned up any info.
Are they commercially available to the public ?
Or some kind of custom machine made for the race teams ?
Have you sat on a sport bike ?
I don't have a bike yet, but I spent a lot of time at the Honda bike exhibit at the Toronto Indy this past weekend, sitting on all the bikes they had there.
I don't find the sport bike "leaning forward" sitting position comfortable at all, and that was just...
Both of those books are in the Toronto Library, so you can check them both out before buying.
The library lists the Haynes book as authored by Coombs, Matthew for some reason, but the cover looks the same as the Amazon page.

TLDR ;
(Restored Cb350 kept stalling out at speed /intermittently)
So, as good a thought as putting inline filters on sounds, it apparently is not a good combo...
You only have a 7 km commute, but you don't want to use TTC to save $300 / mth ?
Irregular hours ?
That would give you a "free" $3K bike or other toy after a year.
Here's another perspective on commuting with a bike ...
Back on topic, the biggest flaw I see in the schools is training at un-realisitically slow speeds.
Highway speeds may not be feasible, but 50-80 km should be, as those are normal "local-road" traffic speed limits.
I'm guessing one of, if not the main reason for the slow speeds is the $$...
Ridiculous comparison.
A more realistic view is that Lamborghini's, Ferraris, Porche, etc should not be street legal.
But those cars are so expensive they are much more rarely seen compared to SS bikes.
Making SS bikes $60K-$100K might be the solution.
Or they just shouldn't be street legal.
Half of the school test is probably more demanding than the MTO test : http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/handbook/motorcycles/section8-0-0.shtml - Walk the bike around cones - Drive the bike "serpentine" - Straight line test
And just how do you objectively measure "better training" ?
The only reports here are from riders who have attended one particular school, and all usually say whichever school they attended was great.
None of the schools publish their curriculum.
From the little info available (heresay /...
"Need most of parts replaced" ... to make it a cafe racer ?
or to be confident of it running safely ?
The ad says it has been safetied.
Maybe that bike is in too good condition for you, if you're more interested in something to work on than to ride right away ? :)
I know zero about...
