    Anyone into gardening here?

Whatever you do, do not rake up the blossoms and leave them in a garbage pail that will get water in it. They will rot and smell like pig chit. We put them out for collection and they smelled so bad the garbage men wouldn't take them. I had to bury them in the garden.

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

While a M/C isn't covered by the constitution the comment "when I see a hidden plate they usually run" is of concern. If the italicized part was a race or gender, it would show prejudice. What collected statistics show the percentage of plate hiders to be runners?

#$%@ GP Bikes just made my life harder

I've found that there's typically four reasons for a stuck bolt. 1) Corrosion- Heat, impacts, penetrating oils work to various degrees and in combination. The shock of an impact gun sometimes does more than leverage. Also you can use all your strength holding the socket onto the bolt, letting...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

My brother was a M/C cop and got into chasing another M/C. After the rider stopped my brother got off his bike to do the usuals and the rider took off. He eventually caught the runner and it was all about him not having all his paperwork. After that, when the offending bike stopped, the rider...

    Good news thread

I knew a guy that raced pigeons and tracked their performance, giving the slower ones to a friend of his wife. I asked what she did with them and was told "She cooks them." Now there's an incentive plan.

    Dealers and Trust

My good guy has retired. When he did an oil change he looked around under the car as the oil was draining and checked things that the dealer would charge for. He knew granny type customer only drove 50 KM a week and didn't need NASCAR spec brakes. Sometimes he'd give me a heads up that the...

Does Toronto actually have a plan?

So how do the suburbanites get to work or go shopping without a car? Public transit sucks even if it exists. Corner stores are no longer being built. Instead, miles away, they build a mall or bunch of big box stores.

Does Toronto actually have a plan?

Toronto's housing plan includes Toronto has been implementing zoning changes to increase housing density and create more diverse housing options, particularly along major streets and in low-rise neighborhoods. These changes include permitting multiplexes (2-5 unit buildings) in all residential...

    Stocks

"The Dow Jones Industrial Average, a key indicator of stock market performance, did not return to its pre-crash levels of 1929 until November 23, 1954. This recovery took over two decades, as the stock market experienced a sharp decline during the Great Depression." A 65 YO person retiring in...

    Stocks

My main holdings scarily bounce around but comparing them to the day before Trump's election and today the difference, when RRIF withdrawals are factored in, is negligible. The interest from a GIC could put a thumb on the scale a little but timing a recovery could hurt. I wonder what would...

    In a crowd

An in-law tended to show up when it was convenient for her. We had invited her to join us for a family outing and gave her a departure time. She hadn't arrived on time and after a short wait I called "All aboard" and we piled in and started backing down the driveway, just as she showed up. She...

    Pickup Trucks

I'll tell buddy. He didn't want the diesel or short box but needed the heavy duty. It's only $140K so grab something before the insurance company reneges on paying for it.

building a ramp for a shipping container?

Things evolve. Ramp Version 1.0 worked but had safety issues. Version 1.1 will be better but may be heavy. You'll eventually get to version infinity.0 and it will be perfect except for the subscription fees.

    The $80,000 Honda?

How much would a spin around the block cost in depreciation? I don't want to run a museum so it's off my shopping list. The curator of a wooden boat museum commented that when you restore a battered hull to its pristine, from the factory glory, you destroy its history. Every dent, scratch...

    Hudson's Bay closing

I think the logic is "I deserve the bonus even if the company lost $50 million. If it wasn't for me, they would have lost $80 million."
