I’d love to see stats of places that turn a blind eye to this kind of crap vs those that clamp down on it. My feeling is that here we are seeing a lot of “drug tourism” from people outside the area that have been told about the permissive attitude towards encampments and the availability of drugs.
After being woken at 5am by the guy delivering the Globe and Mail to next door I now have the driveway alarm set up properly!
Works well. I still might get a motion activated sprinkler for the summer months.
This entire neighbourhood is suffering from back yard intrusions and car thefts now...
Started off well! I’m into the books now too. Great series.
Watching Mr and Mrs Smith on Prime and it’s pretty good so far. I was prepared to switch it off if it was too “Hollywood” but it’s actually artistically decent!
Just got back from Shoppers getting my wife some things. Methhead off his face outside with the staff inside watching through the window. Apparently they just come in and help themselves to crap on the regular. Minimum wage staff don’t need to deal with that.
This is an alarm that rings inside the house. It’s heat activated so a bit more specific than the cameras we have and the beam seems focussed enough that animals won’t set it off as it’s placed high enough above the ground. My cameras get set off by raccoons, cats and sometimes odd...
We have a cop that does that too but he’s just one guy and he’s still working too. This is the worst this neighbourhood has been (it’s still not that bad) but it could get even worse. Some roaches need stepped on.
I’m worried that if I set up a neighbourhood watch all that will happen is the old Portuguese lady round the corner will just keep reporting any brown person she sees.
That’s happening. Collections of crap, shopping carts, broken down tents and quite often bikes.
Thinking of setting up a neighbourhood watch organisation but I wonder just how effective it will be.
One recent security cam caught one of the scum in a back yard carrying something that looked like a tree pruning saw or a scythe. The neighbourhood is getting to pitchfork level 5.
The cameras are good but they don’t work for irrational people correct!
I was thinking something like a laser tripwire attached to an alarm set 3ft above the ground at the end of the driveway.
Security cam caught a scruffy crackhead trying our car door handles last night, thankfully no damage. Time to nip this in the bud as there’ve been multiple reports of multiple people in backyards/stealing from cars etc the past few days.
I need a driveway alarm that’s reliable and won’t go off...
The west of Ireland is more remote/rugged and you’ll bump into locals more than you would in Dublin. The Isle of Man is worth some time exploring though. The Laxey Wheel, Snaefell railway. If you hit a good day on the top of the mountain it’s the only place you can see England, Ireland...
