Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

Will and Harper. A documentary on Netflix is…different. I wasn’t sure how to take this as the subject matter is pretty controversial right now and then couple that with the fact that I’m not a huge Will Ferrel fan. Basically Will’s oldest friend comes out as a trans woman. They decide to...

    Air Canada strike

I thought that was a mark of a good deal…when both sides aren’t happy.

The "Official" Watch Thread and all Things Horological

Anything can be serviced if you have the time/ money. Thing is who’s going to pay $500 to fix a TV that you can buy new for $299.

We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

I still have a backlog of commercial 9mm but am saving the brass and cleaning and prepping it as I go. I bought the dies ages ago and have the projectiles etc. It might be my winter project this year. I’ve been very happy with my .38 spl loads and that’s saved me a fair bit.

Did I miss a scam or opportunity

Well…it’s inventive. You should have said “sure, here’s a toonie”.

    Did you exercise today?

44km cycle ride on gravel. More than I’ve done in decades. I’m done. Pass the Advil.

The "Official" Watch Thread and all Things Horological

PT Barnum’s clowns were in the ring rather than outside buying merch though.

Craft Beer: What are you drinking now??

No idea if it’s new but McAuslan Baltic Porter is delicious. Super well balanced for an 8% beer. Lovely flavours.

    Anyone here a cyclist?

Messed about with the bikes today. Put antiseize on the pedals of the gravel bike and while there I had a look at the clip mechanism. Sure enough there were two more turns to slacken the mechanism but they were stiff. That should make a difference for clipping in and out. Trying to get the...

Emotional and mental health aspects of aging

My best friends are an ocean away. However, when we get together it’s like everything was yesterday whether’s it’s been a few years or a few months. Aside from that I really don’t mind my own company in my downtime. I can watch/eat/drink/do what I want and do it at my own pace and if anything...

    MacDoc's rides 2015 CB300 to 2018 MT03 to 2017 GS310 to 2014 CB500F.

I swapped a muffler out for a carbon one once because it kept burning through my pants. Couldn’t care less about the noise but the smell of burning nylon was getting a bit tiresome.

    MacDoc's rides 2015 CB300 to 2018 MT03 to 2017 GS310 to 2014 CB500F.

Looks nicer than the Honda, especially that stubby muffler.

    Tipping

Me too. I’ve had pharmaceutical companies/corporate reps wine and dine me at some of the US and Canada’s best restaurants and I’ve eaten at some excellent restaurants in Europe and there’s no competition at all in my mind. European food at a high level is in a class of its own. The best...

    Belize..or…

I’d prefer somewhere to go for a week. These kinds of destinations need a lot longer.

Some N American things I don’t like. In Europe, I’m not going to be hassled out of my seat if I’m taking my time. In North America I’ve been constantly reminded or hassled at times in terms of leaving soon to give the table to another customer. That really ticks me off for some reason...

    Belize..or…

Anyone been to Belize? It’s the only Central American country I’ve not been to. Thinking about a holiday next year and perhaps somewhere new. Criteria: 1. Good wildlife 2. Interesting history 3. No KFC/McDonalds/Starbucks 4. Decent local food 5. Bonus for Spanish speaking 6. $CDN needs to go...

    Now that was slick.

Because we can walk and chew gum. It isn’t a zero sum proposition. Sometimes doing the right thing is what civilized countries do. Look at our armed forces, the Canadian Army used to be the envy around the world when it came to peacekeeping. Mostly in countries that didn’t give a hoot about us...
