Not trying to blame the victim here, but 1 word. defensive driving, u were going too fast, how on a 125? it's a mystery but if u can't brake faster than the car in forn, you are going too fast.

Doesn't sound too bad, i slid out on a hill and my bike slid about 200m, broke the shifter pedal in half tore off lever, busted fairings, but its can all be fixed.

Have you ever driven standard before? If not well ... maybe go practice in a car.
Other than that, I just suggest learning how to "feather" the clutch. If you don't know what this mean ask your instructor. This is perhaps the #1 skill you can learn at a motorcycle training course.

the chains are probably heat treated in sych a way to maximize their hardness, one of our customers heat treats metal for the military and let me tell u, its not cheap.
get a 250 for sure, 125 cant do highways.
as for rain gear i got a $300 gorex suit from marks work wear-house and have been out in thunderstorms, the weather this past week was a joke for me.
