This is a very scary mentality. It was like this when I was touring in Vietnam. Buses going in the opposite direction would cross into my lane to pass cars on a 2 lane road. I would have to go on the shoulder or be killed. Always be on your toes when you are out there. I am glad your son was...
Maybe because sportbike riders seek out challenging twisty roads where crashes are more probable vs cruiser riders who head over to your local ice cream shop to hang out.
I had some crashes from my downhill skateboarding days where i was going 60 km/h+ just wearing knee pads, gloves and a helmet. Ye I had some nasty road rash but never broke anything. I guess it also helps to be in shape and not weight 300 lb.
Loled when thread title is about big bikes but op is taking about 600cc. Try a sv650 that feels more big bike ish with some decent torque low in the revs.
I got a used bike with 56,000km. Its the first bike that I own that has a serviceable shock. Its Sachs shock and Showa forks. Should I bother getting these items serviced? Would I notice a significant improvement? How much would this kind of job cost and which shop would you recommend?
My ad for my 2005 Bandit 1200s ... let me know what you guys think about the pricing. It will need a new front tire to pass safety. Put 20k on this beast since April.

Thanks for all the tips guys. We hit a good number of roads even tho the weather was terrible this weekend. My favorite was 144 south of Renovo. Also 154 and 87 were good. Easy to get carried away down there.
