Personally, I'd go for the '04 assuming its in good condition. Its already depreciated and you can probably flip it for what you bought it for in the future. Those bikes are rather bullet proof. Plus you can use the extra loot to buy some heated/waterproof gear for the kid :)

Are Barb and Maxine (spl ? :s ) still with RTI? I took my first riding class with RTI and absolutely loved them. IIFC they had difficulties with a few bikes not running so I sat out a couple of exercises. To make up for it, they hung out with me for an hour after class was done letting me ride...

Your good to wash it all, just avoid high pressure spray on delicate parts i.e. rad ......oh and also make sure your gas cap is securely latched ( don't ask why I mention this).

I ran the older version of the Michelins (Pilot Road 2). 1000cc....3 track days (one was in the rain, and only slipped when I got throttle happy. I'm no superstar by any means tho). 6500km street mileage, not a single fault to date and tires still have tons meat. Only criticism about the tires...
