Picked up an InReach SE ...any tips?

As the others said, def. do not mount it on the bike. I use the older SPOT (switching to InReach shortly) and like to have it mounted to the shoulder strap of my camel-pack, in the upper chest area. This way it's accessible and in view of the sky.

Honda CRF450L Unveiled: The Dual Sport Everyone’s Been Wanting?

The problem is that at this point there is no way to for sure tell if this HP limit is truly THAT artificial (and thus so easily by-passed). Customers are sitting money in hand and can't tell if its their dream bike or bad product development joke.

Honda CRF450L Unveiled: The Dual Sport Everyone’s Been Wanting?

If that is correct (whether the typo is from the TRX or from the CRF250L), someone at Honda better loose their job over this discrepancy. I've lost sleep over trying to decide whether 'is this and error (should put down deposit immediately)' or 'is this for real and honda is on crack (no...

    Salesfloor comission on new bikes

Does anyone know aprox. how much salesperson commission is typically paid out on Japanese bikes? I have an opportunity to call in a favor from a friend high up at a dealership on a bike I want (but consider overpriced) and want to know if it's even worth it to bother my contact or just buy a...

    Purchased 2017 Husqvarna 701 .99% interest

Nightmare alley is fun (if you enjoy muddy torture and burningnin your new clutch). Did you go through it North or Southbound? I like the big open gulley/hills area just East of the South end on that road/trail. Good area for hilclimb practice.

Sightseeing on the way to Washington DC

Hey guys, I have to take a one-day trip to Washington DC and thinking of taking the bike... Can anyone recommenced any points I should incorporate in my trip plan? I've ridden to Renovo in PA (now long ago, before giving up on on-tarmac road trips) but not much further East. Looking for routes...

    Off Road Insurance

Blue or green, the quote (and/or ability to quote) has to do with how the bike is classified in their system database. I had a 2013 WR450F (rare blue plated unicorn) quoted at 160/year and had the agent confirm SPECIFICALLY whether it was covered on the street or in the dirt. She confirmed that...

    Furnaces... Damn them!

Thank you all for very informative feedback. Problem solved by installing The Nest thermostat :) I'm sure this approach may not be addressing the root cause. But it seems that for now, all is well....

    Furnaces... Damn them!

2 furnaces with 2 thermostats, one controls/heats the first 2 floors and the other set for upstairs floors.... No light :(

    Furnaces... Damn them!

Furnace is acting up... Everything works, but the basement furnace won't blow hot air/activate when thermostat is in 'auto' mode... ie, even though the temp on the thermostat is clearly below the 'HOLD" or "Schedule" setting (even by 10 degrees, I tried going extreme) hot air won't kick in. I...

    Places to ride DS

The best roads are found by trial and error and attending and then carefully mapping the routes from other rides and events. Yes, if you want to find a forrest, or an extensive patch of continuous 'any idiot can get lost in' trails, Ganny is the closest, but there are many opportunities between...

Talk me out of a KLX250

I think for now I'm going to take apart and refurbish the xChallenge for next season. Wheels, bearings, plugs, cooling system, wiring harness check are all on the to do list. The KLX has potential, but buying it new is turning out to be more expensive than tracking down a well-equipped EXC or...

Talk me out of a KLX250

That and a diet would make that bike perfect. Hope they are listening. The fact that they pulled out of the Japanese enduro championship does not sound too promising though...

Talk me out of a KLX250

What, you had trouble getting dealers to support a bike that's older than most of the mechanics in their service bay? :)

Talk me out of a KLX250

Amazing. Thank you. Not what I wanted to hear, but exactly what I wanted to know. :( About the BETAs, yes not a choice either as not only they are not long-distance machines, but they don't have a dealer network. Lang's or whoever they have in Ontario isn't going to help me on the TCat in the...

Talk me out of a KLX250

Thanks to all that replied. Good insights and a few misconceptions... :) Here are some thoughts.. 351 kit is is available for the FI KLX, waiting to confirm on the FI Map dookikie next Previous (Carb-Ed) bikes are reporting +20k kms on the 351 kit, so it seems much more practical than GYTR...

Talk me out of a KLX250

Is anyone here riding a KLX250? I'm starting to look for my next ADV bike and the parameters are: FI Modest performance Under 300lbs Absolutely capable of extended mileage (I average about 8k/year on the dirt bike, so models with 10h service intervals are not practical) Current-ish and...
