Keep the old one. It's vintage. Maybe bring it indoors, strip it down, thoroughly clean it and put a glass cover over it (without gasoline of course).
Not quite. The laces get caught up, so that when you come to a stop and go to put your left foot down to hold up the bike, your foot doesn't make it to the ground and the bike just keeps tipping over and down you go.

OP, what you describe is called "coccydynia" or pain from the coccyx.
There is actually very little you can do for it, aside from giving it time, a cortisone injection or having the coccyx surgically removed.
