I said 110 is overly-conservative since the mean speed in fair-weather, congestion-free travel is more like 120. I hoped for 110 in built-up areas, 120 in open-areas. I also suggested that the 150kph HTA172 limit and penalties remain unchanged.
My bike sleeps in a secure, heated facility. I'd never subject it to brine or salt powder or risk it on cold asphalt.
While it hibernates I surf the web looking for new t1res (take that, ad bot), gear, accessories and **** on which to waste my money. But mostly I ***** and moan about how much...
I like the look of the new CBR650R. More power than previous years, much improved front suspension and brakes, looks better, slightly more sport than touring this time 'round.
I've seen a few vids. It looks like it manages okay.
One dyno I saw for it showed ~36HP at the wheel -- comparable to a Yamaha R3, which is perfectly capable of highway travel. However, as with many small bikes, there's just not a lot in reserve at highway speeds.
Surprisingly, the bike...
I read (in ads) hear this a lot: No time to ride.
How much time does it take to suit up and go for a blast? Figure 3 minutes to get the gear on, an hour terrorizing the villagers and another, say, 5 minutes to put the machine away and de-gear.
Is it really that you can't find the time or that...
Dude, we're talking about ABS for use on street bike. You always drag every discussion into the dirt and somehow try to link it to your trials riding. It's simply not relevant to this discussion.
Yes, sometimes locking the wheels is preferable on dirt (I recall that from my motocross racing 40...
The issue bolded above...I dunno. Riding sensibly and being able to dynamically assess risks and hazards as they form and acting ahead of time -- planning escape lines, slowing down, covering brakes, SMIDSY weave and/or high-beam flashing, flashing brake lights to alert drivers behind you're...
There's a reason ABS is mandated in some parts of the world for new machines. It works, plain and simple. Some old schoolers will balk but ignore their opinion: You can't argue the statistics.
The condition of public roads (unlike, say, racetracks) are simply too unpredictable, riding...
My wife is a penny-pincher. She knows how much I spent on my bike and doesn't care when some stupid **** like a box of carbon-fibre bits shows up. She just wants me to have fun.
We save a ton, house is paid for, we have zero debt, no kids and we have good jobs so we pretty much never argue...
If it goes through the courts then there is a public record of it.
That's where social media can take over if the "mainstream media" won't. Post information to reddit, share a few times on Facetagram or Instabook or whatever; encourage bikers you know to share and get the names and faces of the...
It's a post-hoc exercise though; in order to have your wrist slapped with a ticket you need to have been speeding in a school zone and thus have already been posing a danger to others.
I suppose someone who just received a ticket might not speed there the next time but without a strong visual...
Photo radars are about revenue, not safety.
Nothing slows traffic more effectively than a big, threatening cruiser right out in plain sight with its lights blazing, except perhaps a big, threatening cruiser right out in plain sight with its lights blazing and a hi-viz-wearing cop pointing a...
I spray a bit of WD40 onto a microfibre towel and wipe down the wheel. That easily gets rid of the chain spooge. I follow-up with a wipe-down with Bon-Ami or similar window cleaner to remove the WD40 residue (which isn't harmful, it just attracts dust more quickly...)
