Is a safety required to sell privately?Inexpensive mechanics in Mississauga to do so?

No, but it will certainly help sell it. Be aware though that it expires after 36 days. I've taken two bikes to KMM over on Meyerside for safeties, haven't had any issues. Doug seems like a humble guy. The MTO sets the standard price of a safety at $85. The small amount of mechanical work I've...

Where to buy oil and which one to choose from?

Castrol is cheap **** made from refined dog turds. Look at the container, no certifications or approval ratings from anybody. If you're riding an older bike consider Rotella T3. Modern I would go with synthetic Rotella T6.

    battery theory

Bigdawg is right. Electric motors are typically amperage driven. Lights need both, if you have a 12V 36W headlight, that means it need 3A. A better indicator of battery size is the Ah (amp-hours) and standby voltage ratings. This is why you can't run a bike off 6 AAA batteries from the dollar...

Recognizing a stolen bike, how to?

Earlier this year I bought a shed-find project bike off some ****** who claimed the bike was his wife's and since she wasn't home it would be mailed to me. Being an overly trusting newbie retard I accepted. It turned out not stolen, but the ownership doesn't exist. NEVER hand over a nickel...

anyone under age 21 have a 20+ year old bike?

Oh I'm not complaining, it costs less then my auto insurance. However like I said I'm 30, that does help a lot and a 500 is in a lower bracket then a 750. What the other two posters said is more realistic of what you'll get. Seriously just call a broker, I'm with Dalton Timmis. It won't cost...

anyone under age 21 have a 20+ year old bike?

750cc with an M1 at 21? Unless you live in the middle of the woods better get the lube ready. I can tell you a 500cc 1984 Shadow with an M2 at 30 costs me $1650/year in Mississauga. Better call around. Be aware you can only get basic liability for old bikes.

    Thinking of scootering

The list was based on what I could find on Kijiji at the time. I like the Cub and it's clones and there are a few on Kijiji, but they're in disrepair and rather far away. I can't afford anything new and I wanted something that could be on the road quickly. Maybe I'll buy a winter project, but...

    Thinking of scootering

Yes, thank you for that. I never even thought to check the sales section of this site. Unfortunately failed safety due the front brake pads being totally worn out, as in non-existent. Had to leave it at KMM, hopefully I'll be puttering about by the weekend.

    Thinking of scootering

Bought eshum's scooter. Idled properly, even the electric start and horn worked. Will it pass safety without the right reflector and mudflap? Read someplace reflectors and fenders/wheel coverings are an issue.

    Thinking of scootering

Thanks, the one I saw today wasn't too bad, probably just needed the idle adjusted. Like Iceman was saying, if it was taken off the stand it would have either stopped or been manageable. The one I saw on Saturday was trying to shake itself off the stand. Visiting eshum tomorrow.

    Thinking of scootering

Went to see another BWS50 today. Had the same issue with not being able to idle, back tire just keeps spinning into infinity. Wasn't as jarring as the one yesterday though. I did wait a good while for it to warm up, but no difference and this one only had 2000km on it. The Ruckus' probably have...

    OneWalk to Conquer Cancer

How much money goes to lobbying Wynne for more anti-cigarette nonsense? After all AFAIK it was the Canadian Cancer Society that's gotten most anti-smoking laws passed in the last couple years. Well tobacco smoking anyway, smoking anything else is apparently alright by Wynne, except a pole. I...

    Thinking of scootering

Yeah that's what I thought, and I'm tired of tinkering. Iceman, that isn't it. It's the orange one in Ajax for $800. Maybe I was just doing something wrong.

    Thinking of scootering

Went to visit a BW50 today. Looked alright, but the mud flap at the back was broken (seems common) and the electric start didn't work. There were some confusing bits though. 1. It had a green plate. The owner said that's what scooters get? I was hoping to just transfer my motorcycle plate. 2...

    Thinking of scootering

First does anyone know of another way to contact eshum? He's not answering my PM and I have several Kijiji viewings booked, but I like his BW50 the best. DoubleJ, I know Kymco's history and I would consider buying one, just not the Bet&Win 150. It's 100lbs more then the other scooters (BW50 =...

    who is your isp?

I've been with Start for the past three years. Cable in my old place, DSL now. I think I've only had one outage and it had to do with damage to the equipment on the street, so not their fault. I was with Bell before and it was terrible. It cost about twice as much and had constant outages...

    Thinking of scootering

It would have the best performance, but the added weight bothers me. There doesn't seem to be much of an English speaking community around it either. I really think I'd rather pay a couple hundred extra for a Yamaha. Thanks, I'll PM the seller eshum about it.

    71 suzuki t250 engine seized

I'm guessing this is it: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-street-cruisers-choppers/city-of-toronto/1971-suzuki-t250-project-bike/1174961064?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true I wouldn't go quite landfill yet, it looks to be in very good cosmetic shape for a 71. It would make a good restore project, but do...

    Daily observations

As a former kayak owner I can say with 100% confidence that it won't end well. First that thing is going side to side, scratching up his paint. If he doesn't realize his error, at speed that thing is going flying unless that is one hell of a rope. When I was first bringing my kayak home it went...

    71 suzuki t250 engine seized

No, avoid. I learned the hard way back in January to not buy anything that wouldn't start/run. Especially for $1000. There are working bikes out there for $1000, they will need plenty of love, but they work. A 71 with a seized engine is scrap metal in need of a total restore, don't pay more then...
