Looking for riders to participate in a popular Canadian Culinary Competition Series

I'm free on Friday, luckily, and The Brickworks are only a block or two from my place, so for sure I'm in. I'll be tagging along with Bocutter.

Trying to compare a couple of tires - any ideas?

Luckily I can get them installed and balanced by a friend who knows what he's doing. Will probably order from Flying Squirrel when the time comes as he's right in my neighbourhood.

Trying to compare a couple of tires - any ideas?

Haha, thanks for the additional option, but now I have even more manufacturers to sort out. I know the difference between those tires isn't going to be huge, but that only makes deciding which one to go with harder, not easier. If I could get motorbike tires at CostCo, then it'd be Bridgestone...

Trying to compare a couple of tires - any ideas?

It's new tire time. Unfortunately I have an older bike and selection has narrowed somewhat. Ideally, I'm looking for sport touring tires with reasonable longevity but solid handling and good wet grip. I've used Metzeler Marathons/880s for years, but they're not making the new 888's or Tourances...

You've got to be kidding ....SNOW!!! in April !!!

April? Man, I remember when we had snow in freaking June one year. This was maybe 15 or 20 years back. Like this year, the winter snow was almost all gone by April, but it wasn't all that warm yet. Then it snowed at the beginning of April, May, and yes, June... though obviously it didn't stick...

When are you taking your bikes out?

Was out today for a while in the afternoon. Temps started to drop like a rock, but it was good to get out fr the first time in 3 months!

Thanks for the heads up again. Let us know! Hopefully it won't be the meeting on the 23rd, or there's be a hell of a scramble.

For some reason I'm now reminded of when Rogers held a public competition to rename the Skydome and the winning entry was... the Rogers Centre.

Target Canada CEO gets $61M in severance - almost the same as 17,000 employees total

Like I said, the skill being rewarded is not good management, but good self-promotion. You know the old story about the guy starting in the mail room working his way up to CEO. Were those guys always hot-shot geniuses? Some were, but hot-shot geniuses usually don't start in the mail room or...

    Mandatory retirement

Demographics are against it. After 2008 too many Boomers can't afford to retire as planned and will need to hang on in the workforce a while longer yet. Even if that wasn't necessary, it's the older crowd who're voting and they're not about to vote in mandatory retirement on themselves...

    Tim Hortons becoming americanized

Yeah, I gave up on Tim's after they stopped making stuff in-store. Everything there tastes like garbage now, like a bad McDonald's knockoff.

Target Canada CEO gets $61M in severance - almost the same as 17,000 employees total

The real issue is with the maddening fetish for "talent" western business (and the western world in general) has developed. I mean, the vast majority of people are merely mediocre (here I am!), even after you train them and they become experienced. Yeah, this includes a lot of guys with a...

Arguing about the IP is a dodge anyway. The real issue is having the contest in the first place. As Kestrel says, the government's supposed to provide an example, not slavishly copy the worst practices that are still legal.

    Tim Hortons becoming americanized

Maybe not, but this is yet another example of non-Canadian companies "keeping" their word to federal or provincial governments when buying out Canadian ones. I'm not against foreign buyouts or free purchases, and for all we know these layoffs needed to happen - but they still go against the...

Target Canada CEO gets $61M in severance - almost the same as 17,000 employees total

Here we get into the interesting stuff. So just how worthless is the work of all the folks that make Wallyworld run? Sure you've got some schmoes who'll never do better than minimum wage, but now we're getting into the question: How much is an hour of the schmoe's time worth and how much an...

Top quality people can be hard to find, but not half so rare and precious as the corporate world would have you believe.

when does every one stop riding??

That's not all that unusual for Calgary, because they get occasional midwinter chinooks out over the mountains.
