    Rabaconda tire changer

Ok, I think that Amazon ad that I linked in my previous post might be getting a little ambitious with the gravel hauler in their picture :ROFLMAO:

    Rabaconda tire changer

Same here. I didn't realize that Pro6 tire changes were so cheap (as low as $20 at the track if you buy their Dunlops), but I still like to mount my own at home to be absolutely sure I've got what I need to make it through the weekend. It's not as big a deal on the street bikes, but the amount...

How much steering rotation lock to lock?

It's hard to measure with the tools I've got, but it looks like I have about double the angle that Brian has. About 30 degrees from centre each way.

How much steering rotation lock to lock?

No idea of my actual steering angle, but I've taped & wired pieces of 1/8" aluminum flat stock to the OEM steering stops on my trackbike so the brake/clutch levers won't contact the fairing. The aluminum also provides a soft crush zone in case of a crash. I've also heard of people using stick-on...

Hauling double trailer with Pick up?

I'm not a lawyer, but the more I learn about the common law system the wilder it gets. You might not ever get an answer to your question in your lifetime because unless someone amends the HTA to be clearer, the ambiguity of the law is kind of like Schrodinger's cat. It's only proved one way or...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

https://electrek.co/2024/10/16/major-electric-motorcycle-maker-energica-files-for-bankruptcy/ Energica supplied the spec-series MotoE bikes for a handful of years. The bikes were noticeably very heavy compared to the other GP classes and the screaming of the front tire under braking was a very...

    Power leads for heated gear

99% chance that the standard ring terminal lead is what you want. The Mobile Warming "Dual Power" gear appears to be 12v automotive and/or 12v portable battery. I'm not even sure that the 7.4v stuff existed prior to 2018. Either way, it would be a really bad design choice for them to use the...

    Power leads for heated gear

Most 12v heated gear uses 5.5mm (OD) x 2.5mm (pin) coaxial connectors, so it is likely to work. The female (bike) side. The male (vest) side. Not sure what their 7.4V stuff uses. Note that 5.5 x 2.1mm DC coaxial connectors also exist, so there is some uncertainty if you're just eyeballing it.

    New Yamaha R9 Released!

When Graves published the dyno graph for an unrestricted ZX4R I went to the trouble of overlaying it on the dyno graph of an MT-07 in good old MSPaint for fun. Same peak horsepower, same wet weight between those two bikes. It ended up looking a lot like the MT-09 + GSX-R 600 graph, but I'm very...

    New Yamaha R9 Released!

Yup. Lies, damned lies, statistics, and horsepower numbers, as they say.

    New Yamaha R9 Released!

Yeah, but then you'd have to own a Suzuki... The R9 will inherit the space that the R6 currently occupies. The dyno comparing the CP3 with a 600cc is very favourable towards the CP3: A site or app that takes arbitrary dyno graphs and scales/overlays them together properly would be really...

    Overbearing electronics

My wife was involved in a classic SMIDSY left-turning car at an intersection collision. She braked hard but still struck the car fender. ABS on her bike meant that she was still upright at the moment of impact, so she went over the bars and rolled over the hood. Her hips were messed up for a...

    Is this accurate?

Generally, a "XX km/hr ends" sign means that the road reverts back to the default Ontario speed limit which is 80km/hr, or 50km/hr if you're in an urban area. I have no idea how you're supposed to determine which type of area you're in. I like these two signs 200 meters from each other just...

    Overbearing electronics

Back when I was still riding dirt bikes, I'd find an open sandy spot (not hard in Ganaraska), hold the throttle partly open and apply front brake until the front wheel was just barely turning and plowing through the sand. It was extended threshold braking which you could ride out as long as the...

    Is this accurate?

I like looking through obscure crap, but that is too much for me. :) Someone with a lot of time on their hands would have to go through each state and province's highway legislation and provide references to the relevant listed offence. And in cases where it's not an explicit offence in the...

    Is this accurate?

The link to the official Highway Traffic Act and the section on "Overtaking and passing rules" is in post #3: Law Document English View The HTA generally does not say what is permissible, it only says what is an offence. Therefore, there isn't an explicit statement that passing on a double...

Where do you guys go for new tires?

Basic equipment consists of: A sturdy workbench so you don't have to bend down Some sort of support or stand on the workbench to hold the wheel in place so you aren't putting pressure on the brake rotors. An old car wheel with tape or rubber hose around the rim will work. A length of threaded...

    Is this accurate?

True for Ontario, as best as I have been able to determine: Law Document English View There are offences listed for specific passing scenarios, like: but there's nothing about solid or dashed lines. In general, my understanding is that painted road markings in Ontario are not legally...

Q: Did watching racing on Sunday sell you a bike on Monday?

World or national-level race results have had no effect on my purchase decisions for street bikes. There's very little overlap between what I want from a street bike and what makes a good platform for winning races. Local race results are influencing my current shopping, but only because I have...

Then start a new thread in Project Tutorials under a different username when you're ready to sell, and just post all the steps as though you'd done it correctly the first time. Send...
