Unless you have a 360 degree on top of your car, you're not going to catch most hit and runs in the parking lot. Also, most if not all dashcams have motion/g sensors while parked.

Plus these hitch receivers are not meant to be twisted (torqued) like that. AND you are covering your license plate.

I've used a Drift HD170 for the last 4 years and just picked up a Sony Action Cam for $150 with $100 worth of mounts included from Factory Direct. Here's what comes with it. So far I like the videos coming out of the Sony.

your phone is not water or bug proof and is hard to see in the sunlight and doesn't have a 25+hours battery life... just saying.
