    Most annoying man in Canada

Back on topic... I find Kevin O'Leary hilarious. I can see why he's so hate-able but I have to give him props, he has been successful in business. It's so funny when Amanda Lang gets ****** off at him on their show. My choice would be an adopted Canadian that I wish we'd just kick out and...

Is there enough demand for a middle-weight sport-tourer?

It's cool, but not that cheap. (That's the bike the brits call the 'Deauville' right?) I think the F800GT is about $14k as well. Used F800ST's and F800S' are in the $6-9k range now. I think other than the 'full fairing' component, V-Strom's and Versys fill the gap. Sure they're adventure...

Evotech & Yosh repack kit sources?

I just bought a Yosh Repack Kit last week. It's a stock item in the Motovan catalogue, $20-ish from a parts counter.

Is there enough demand for a middle-weight sport-tourer?

The GSX650 is close I guess, but it's an 'old guard' bike - steel frame, non-cartridge fork, and really heavy. Like my old Bandit 600 with an injected, water-cooled engine. The bike that really fits your description is the BMW F800GT. I think things are bad enough economically that a $4000...

    Delkevic Exhausts

Thanks for the offer and for the details on the Delkevic! The gentleman who sold me the luggage also sold me a Yosh low-mount slip-on, so it looks like I'm set for an exhaust.

    Looking for a cheap ride

I'd find an old Ninja 500 myself. But really, even this time of year, you're lucky to find a safety-able bike for a grand.

    185K kilometers, maintenance?

This is great news for my 2000 VFR with 42,000 kms. My mechanic also has a VFR with 144,000 kms so it's not rare territory. A few general things I'd look for... -Play in the back end and the chain adjustment eccentric (apply force, see if it rocks side-side); -Look at the exposed frame and...

    Delkevic Exhausts

Thanks for the feedback guys. Hammer - for the newer series Two Brothers pipes, you can baffle them. For the older series (which mine is, it's a C2?), you have to buy a new end cap ($100) and a baffle ($25), and then remove the old end and re-rivet the new end on. Apparently the packing blows...

    Delkevic Exhausts

Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has ordered a pipe from Delkevic. How was the shipping and cost (duty?), and how happy are you with the pipe? (Good installation, high quality, ...?) I have a two brothers high-mount on my VFR. I might need to go back to a standard mount to accommodate side...

usa branded frame. what to do?

My $0.02 - I'd get on vfrdiscussion.com or vfrworld.com and see if you can get a line on a non-branded frame. I bet if you have most of a working VFR there, you could part your pile of parts for about what you paid... but I realize that's not the point of the exercise.

    CB500 Prices are out

Sounds like a lot of work to save $800-1000. Guess it depends on how busy you are.

    Re: Loud exuasts

Re: Loud exuasts I was in the anti-noise camp until I bought a VFR with a Two Brothers high mount. Having a nice sounding bike adds so much to the enjoyment of riding. That said, I try to keep the revs down in town and to be reasonably polite. It sounds so good even at the low end of the tach.

    2013 Touring Plans

Probably local day or overnighter stuff for me. I did a solo weekend trip to Ottawa in June. I told my wife a lot about the trip, and I'd like to take her through a similar route next summer. If I could find a weekend she was working, would be interested in an overnight trip to PA and back...

    CB500 Prices are out

I think pretty much any bike is capable of doing interstates and 400-series highways, but I could imagine it's an easier, more comfortable and less-stressful task on a bike with a bit of reserve power. I went from a 600-4 to an 800-4 this season. Of course the bigger bike is quicker (108hp vs...

The Official Ongoing Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread

Hi Kawi Girl, congrats on the ride. I was the dude with Jer when we rode back to Guelph as a convoy. This winter, I'm planning to do some wiring upgrades to my new bike and also get some hard luggage. Also debating a FAST or Racer5 course this year. It was fun to sit on new bikes at the show.

    CB500 Prices are out

I think spec wars miss the point of this market segment. The 500 is targeted for new riders hoping to have enough go-juice for 400-series highways. Sure, you could do the same with a Ninja 300 by wringing its' neck as well. This isn't the 600cc supersport class where people actually care...

    CB500 Prices are out

I don't think hp is the only consideration here. The CBR250 scored pretty much a dead heat in comparison tests with the Ninja 250 (the old model, I know) despite being a single with 5-10 less hp. The 250 apparently had a lot more 'meat under the curve' and was less peaky. I have heard, and do...

    Privatize LCBO

I think there are some fixed costs, both in supply cost and in taxes, if the gov't were to recoup its revenue there. I still think there is some consumer savings to be had from a better business than the LCBO. We are talking about a large retail organization that has selective hours, pays its'...

    Privatize LCBO

I doubt it'll happen. But I wouldn't mind if it did. I lived in Calgary and the selection there wasn't much worse. Want a nice vintage wine? Go to a specialty wine store that specializes in it. How about fancy international beer? Same deal. The prices at the time there were cheaper, but...

Ontario should make winter tires mandatory.

This is getting pretty heated... I agree that snow tires are a significant improvement, that worn snows are better than new all-seasons in the cold and ice, and that there's benefits. However, I think the gap can be partially covered by driving somewhat carefully at a lower speed and by...
