1. Ear plugs.
2. Check tire pressure and oil level before leaving, and in London (and might as well lube chain too).
3. If you use a tinted shield, take a clear in case get caught on highway at night (dark w/o city lights).
4. I usually take rain gear along if staying over night (regardless of...
Hoping resident insurance experts will chime in... for a grandfather/grandson (my nephew) situation also... would love to see the kid in the saddle... but insurance is CRAZY in Onscario for the under 21 set!!!
Having come from the West, my starting point is still http://www.blackfootonline.com -- they do volume and can have very competitive prices.
May not be possible to get a "match" here in the GTA -- but a worthy target to shoot for.
Perhaps take their "adjusted" quote (incl. shipping) as a...
Have you considered going vintage? I personally think vintage bikes are COOL and likely a better investment than a new sportster -- insurance might be cheaper too?
Very interested taking skills with regard to low/moderatete speed control to the next level (and beyond).
Have watched the Gymkhana thread with interest -- and would love to participate in formal/legal/organized training in this regard -- perhaps leading to competing. However, to date, the...
TorontoBoy -- the definition/interpretation of "overfilling" that you provide in the paragraph below your quote is not part of the Act -- can you provide the source? Is this in Regulations created under the Act, or in case law?
I have been riding for over a decade (including touring ALL over North America) -- and not once have I got off my bike to fill her. Can't fill her full if she is on the side stand (and when touring I do like to get as much in there as possible as one of the few things my ZX14 can't pass on the...
You will get used to the forces (apparent wind, cross wind, pressure waves from trucks, etc.) VERY quickly when slabbing it in a straight line. As in just a few times out there -- especially if your gear fits. (Loose helmet or jacket magnify forces.)
HOWEVER, don't become too confident too...
I used to park just off Bay (east) and about two blocks south of Bloor on St. Mary Street on the street in the Green P -- for free.
Usually a few bikes there.
But haven't parked there for over a year (changed jobs).
Repeat customer here -- starting with a pair of SMX boots back in 2002 (when they were called New Enough).
Excellent customer service -- family run but also very professional -- lots of independent/candid reviews on their website -- and very good sizing advice.
Highly recommended -- if I...

Longest day was 1330 kms (Las Vegas to Los Angeles via Death Valley, Carmel, CA and the PCH) -- on a Katana 750.
This was part of a two week trip where I went from Toronto to Deal's Gap to Memphis to Dallas to Sedona to Vegas to Los Angeles to Dallas to St. Louis to Toronto.
Planning to do...
A previous poster hit it on the head -- mountains = good roads = unpredictable weather.
I have done the run from Sedona to the Grand Canyon a couple of times on my bike in summer -- some great turns. But even there, one can encounter snow in March.
I recommend having plans A, B and C. Choose...
When I rode my buddy's brand new 2005 VTX1300 I was taken aback by how gutless it was. He ended up dumping the bike soon after and buying a Harley that had a bit more grunt. Personally, if I were going down the cruiser path -- it would be a Triumph Rocket.
Unless money isn't an issue, do yourself a favour and check out extreme supply before buying -- some amazing closeout deals to be had!

I picked up an alpinestars leather jacket for myself there last season -- WAY lower than elsewhere...
