What was your first street bike?

    * 2001 Katana 750 * dirt bike as a kid, and friend's zx6 * had it for 3 years and 25k -- moved to Yukon and DL1000 was better fit there (and had a bit more grunt) -- moved back to Toronto and upgraded to the ZX14 * was big enough for a big and tall guy, comfortable for long distance touring...

Which to buy as 2nd bike GSXR or CBR (600)

Despite my general disdain for the population of riders, and if not for the "circus-bear-effect" (I am a big guy), I would seriously be considering an e-bike. * no insurance cost * no licensing cost * park anywhere for free * coast past traffic jams in rush hour The level of discrimination...

    Any Shoei/Arai helmets on sale?

Motorcycle Gear is a good family-run outfit -- but unfortunately a US intermediary would be required for this deal -- "Please Note: We can ship Shoei products to addresses in the 50 US states only (per manufacturer’s restrictions)."

Tank bag vs. Backpack for commuting to work

Especially in the summer heat, and in traffic, back pack = back sweat. My last bike had a top case which was really convenient -- but on the ZX I make due just fine with a tank bag.

Bike knocked over by someone =(

A bit of a tangent -- but all other things being equal -- would you buy a bike that was designed to withstand such low/no speed incidents with little damage ($-wise) over one that wasn't?

What Griffin said -- and its not worth it.

Shell Rotella T6 at Canadian Tire: 25% Off + $7 Rebate

Perhaps a stupid question -- but what is the shelf life like? Does it make sense to buy a couple extra for next season? Does this type of sale occur regularly?

    Another Gang Sighting @ L&L

Pulled into Timmies this morning (in my cage) for daily fix of caffeine... Encountered a motley crew of riders -- 12-15 -- looks like others are vying for this turf... A number were wearing the same vests (full members?) -- and I can only assume the others were "hang-arounds/prospects"...

How safe is your pair of gloves? Pics.

Yikes. Was eyeing a pair of the SPXs -- thanks for the heads up! It has been awhile since I have done the pavement surfing thing -- but my Teknic Lightning gloves protected my hands well (but the kangaroo skin palms were pooched afterward)...

UHaul bike to TO from Kingston/Belleville?

Drive up with a friend in an econobox and ride the bike back with a trip permit (and them behind you in case there is an issue)?

Am I the only crazy1? SS and a cruiser simultaneously.

If our insurance rates were the same as in the USA, I would have a second bike (Triumph Rocket or similar)...

Fuel economy :Supersport vs entry level bikes going at 100kmph

As OP's question was which will run out of fuel sooner -- size of tank is also a factor -- some bikes have larger tanks and some smaller -- doesn't necessarily correlate with displacement... And in a practical sense (not just running at 100 kph in a straight line) -- how aggressive one rides...

What the heck... How do you clean protective armor?

My hockey gear gets BAD -- but this GTA service keeps it from getting me kicked out of the locker room: http://www.procleangear.com/ Might be able to negotiate a deal based on size of load?

Gear advice for night riding in the country

When I am touring cross-country I wear a perforated leather jacket, leather gloves, jeans and boots. 2-piece rain gear and a pair of water-experienced leather gloves are in the tank bag. Obviously the rain-gear and 2nd pair of gloves come out at the first sign of rain. But the rain gear is...

New Rider. Where in the GTA to buy and have an exhaust installed?

Harsh indeed. Maybe the current pipe is damaged, or just doesn't look great to the OP. I much prefer to look of a CF R77 on a ZX14 over the long stainless stock pipes. Not like a slip-on adds much (any?) power. As for noise -- to each his own. Personally I strongly recommend against D&D --...

I keep stripping Philips head screws, what am I doing wrong?

Picked a set of JIS drivers up here last year before removing secondary flies as stripping those would have been a real hassle... http://www.rjrcooltools.com/shop_item_detail.cfm?subcat_ID=138

New Rider. Where in the GTA to buy and have an exhaust installed?

Best price I have seen for my bike (shipping included) is at extremesupply.com -- installing a slip-on is easy to DIY.

Looking for store with Women's leather riding jackets - Large sizes or custom

Would size 16 work? ($89.99) http://www.extremesupply.com/product/Closeouts-Jackets/HEINGERICKEWOMENSSALINASJACKETS.html#.UfWjUI3FUX8 I have bought a few things from these guys in the past and have been very satisfied.

    Girlfriend doesn't like motorcycles

In my experience, it is best to go all-in. If she is "the one" and motorcycles aren't the focus of you life, lose the bike. If she isn't "the one" and/or bikes are your life -- RUN FOREST!

    Roadside Assistant for motorcycle?

Currently have CAA+ -- cheap at twice the price for peace of mind whlie touring -- esp. in US. But that Costco deal looks interesting -- while CAA+ is cheap at twice the price -- happy to pay half! Will be looking into the Costco coverage! Thanks!
