Why aren't radar detectors legal in Ontario?

Just as an added consideration that we don't often hear in the comparisons to other places, is the relative size and weight of the trucks on our highways. Most states, and definitely in Europe they do not carry anywhere near the weight we do here. Not sure I'd want to see a 130000 plus pound...

Hidden gem accommodations for Sturgis, anyone?

Agreed....I went this past July, and it was fantastic. Riding all the big destination roads was easy and accessible, and the cost was so much better being at an off-peak time. I rented a cabin on a 200 acre ranch, complete with a huge outdoor kitchen, laundry facilities, etc for 750 bucks for 6...

    GL650 Silverwing

Another vote for the KLR. I'm on my second one; I've been off road with it, rode it to Nova Scotia, and there is no better bike for short city trips as well (rough pavement/potholes mean nothing anymore). Either generation can be had cheap, tires are 200 bucks for a pair and you'll easily get...

    Solobox

Anyone ever deal with this guy? I'm trying my hardest not to drop a bad review here, but man this is getting difficult. I know he had some delays via a new powdercoater for his boxes, but it looks like I'm getting burned on my purchase. Been waiting since the end of August

    Winter storage question

Not sure about the elective ethanol addition...our customers simply get E10 if that's what their account is set up for, they do not get a variable blend. Rule of thumb for any of my seasonal engines is to stick to Shell or Canadian tire premium, as it is ethanol free.

contract work and not being paid

This sounds like a much bigger issue could be unfolding - If you are driving their truck, you are very much an employee. I'm very well versed in this stuff (Been through court with WSIB, MOL, REV CAN). Technically speaking, this could be easily winnable if you simply contact a labor lawyer to...

    Offering advice to new riders

The OP is a product of an over-governed socialist mentality. Who the **** cares what gear they had on? Seriously, hate to sound harsh but you have this coming. Instead of thinking you're doing them a favor by offering advice that is safer for them, stop and think that taking your car is safer...

    Perspective

Too true. I've had the benefit (curse?)of many years both as a rider and a truck driver as well as a commercial instructor. They used to teach people the defensive tactics as a primary tool for your own well being, definitely did not teach how to throw your hands up and be a victim. Virtually...

Caught on cam: Biker nearly struck by SUV

How did you make that connection from my statement? Apparently rage issues aren't the only thing you need to work on lol. You know, most people probably would get ****** off, but manage to keep it within a reasonable honk of the horn, finger gesture, etc. You actually don't have the right to...

Caught on cam: Biker nearly struck by SUV

I get that drivers can pull some dumb stuff, I'm just saying I'd rather not be a victim, and that going after people after they've made a mistake is futile. Plau put it best in the quoted post. Different story when someone INTENTIONALLY does something to take you out, but even then there are...

Caught on cam: Biker nearly struck by SUV

So, the rider should make things even more risky to himself by pulling a stunt like that? Lol, generation squashed. Try asking people that have been riding for more than one season what they are doing to preserve themselves. I'm pretty confident that elevating a scenario, making the transaction...

Caught on cam: Biker nearly struck by SUV

This is exactly why some people like hearing about bike crashes. Rider was the bigger twat of this exchange; bad positioning, way too aggressive etc. What is it with bikers that feel so entitled? Ride defensively, it's much more enjoyable. Yeah the SUV made a bad lane change, but if this...

NEED ANSWERS on Huge insurance quote increase

Another vote for the postal code issue. After 3 addresses and 3 increases living in Hamilton over 18 years, I'm being given a 1000 bucks a year off the whole package when I move to Burlington this summer. Address is everything
