Thought bike was going to melt!!

When the light comes on you shut off the engine immediately. Ideally the light never comes on, which is why they dont make it the most user friendly component.

    Importation situation question

A lawyer wont help. Customs needs to clear the bike, and the bike needs to be at the border for them to do that. You will need to get transfer papers from the DMV of the state the bike is registered in as well. Its a really convoluted process that makes buying used vehicles from a private seller...

Scrap Ontario Drive Clean Scam Petition

The government actually believes that drive-clean is a waste of time and resources, for all the same reasons we do. However, all the big chains (Canadian tire, active green and ross, etc) that bought the drive-clean approved equipment for thousands and thousands of dollars successfully...

    Importation situation question

Cant do it. Trailer it back across the border (show the paperwork you have to prove its a US bike), get the appropriate transfer permits from the state its registered in, and import it properly when you cross again into Canada. There is absolutely no process for registering it once its already...

fairing rattle - is there a simple fix?

Yeah, go to Lowes (i only say this because their metric section is killer) and find a rubber washer or grommet that fits over the screen, and put that between the windshield and the fairing. This will deaden the vibrations.

Legality of a home-made moped (mounting a gas engine to a bicycle)

These are totally illegal on Ontario roads, unfortunately. You would have to register it as a "Home built vehicle", and theres no provisions in the Ontario registration system to specifically account for this (same reason kit cars are such a pain) and its just entirely not worth it. That said...

Ocasional rough start, sometimes slow to get going and other related questions

Doesnt really matter if you want to, that is the solution. You can pay someone else to do it I guess.

Ocasional rough start, sometimes slow to get going and other related questions

The Kawi 250 is jetted notoriously lean from the factory. Its pretty normal that on a stock bike, you wont be able to properly ride it for a few minutes until it warms up. The solution is to drill out the caps on your pilot screws, and turn them out a quarter turn. If you search for "Kawasaki...

Tank slapper - again... getting pretty ****** off now..

Yeah, people say this over and over again, but seriously, has anyone ever left there without knowing everything wrong with the bike? Even when I go there for minor things, I never get to leave without knowing exactly all the ways my bike is "****ed". Every time i get a safety done, he confirms...

    License plate visibility

No, it has to meet these requirements: http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/regs/english/elaws_regs_900611_e.htm The regulations you linked at Transport Canada's standards, which only apply to importing or distributing vehicles in canada. The Ontario Safety Standards and the HTA are the...

Your average KM per riding season.

I average around 10k, but honestly most of it is commuting, not pleasure riding. I ride to work almost every day in the summer, rain or shine.

Tank slapper - again... getting pretty ****** off now..

Because the guy had a dangerously unsafe idea that his chain wouldnt wear out or need adjustment if he lubed it often and bought a good chain. I am not going to give a physics lesson as to why this is incorrect, but I am going to tell him enough so that he doesnt get himself killed.

For DIY tire changers, do you reuse your balancing weights?

Thats the point. Dont reuse your wheel weights. They are so cheap that it isnt even about being environmentally friendly, its about safety. For 5 dollars, why would you compromise your and other peoples safety? If the environment is your concern, melt them down and use them for something else...

Tank slapper - again... getting pretty ****** off now..

Let me guess, you were the kid who always had to correct the teacher? The swingarm most definitely moves on a Ninja 250.

Tank slapper - again... getting pretty ****** off now..

Chains get loose on all bikes. Chains stretch, they require adjustment. Some chains will stretch faster than others, but there is no chain that will be the same length for its entire service life.

Can I make a claim for single motorcycle / vehicle accident with liability insurance?

If you are doing 40, theres no way you would not be able to identify the danger and avoid crashing unless you are dangerously unqualified to ride a motorcycle. Gravel is slippery but its not that slippery. The sign is there because the city is aware that the road is less than ideal, it is your...

    License plate visibility

http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?169597-Anyone-running-one-mirror&p=2013414&viewfull=1#post2013414 Police do not enforce those rules. The HTA applies, and the HTA does not mention a NEED for signal lights on a motorcycle. This is also why you have to learn hand signals...

    Suomy Vandal helmet

I bought one of these the other day too, if anyone is looking to pick one up, CycleWorld in Scarborough has them on (permanent) sale for about 415 after tax. The only downside is they said they cant order the liners, and since I size between Medium and Large in these, I had to go hunting. After...

    shift holder

I would still replace the tab, or at least find out what it looks like now and make sure its not rubbing against anything. The spacer is a bit of a ghetto fix but if you are in a rush and need the bike back on the road asap, the spacer will do that just fine. I used a spacer on my bike when...

    shift holder

What you need is the "tab" that holds the shifter shaft in the correct position (on my bike its a circlip, but it might be a tab on yours). Its under the clutch cover, according to that thread. I cant find it on that parts fiche, but what you are looking for is going to most likely be on one of...
