Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I was at Ikea and happened to park across from the EV charger spots. Saw a lot of cars cruising past those empty spots looking for parking. Why do the EV spots have to be right at the front door? Driving an EV doesn't mean you are mobility impaired or struggling with little kids. Other than the...

    Smart Thermostat

Like you, I'm getting my dad a Nest b/c my house experience was good. I'll setup and program it for him. The advantage with the Nest is the simple user interface for temperature adjustments. Just turn the big outside ring to change the temp. Don't have to mess with touch screen and menus.

Did you check the charging port for built up lint or other crap. Use a toothpick to clear it out.

    Smart Thermostat

Check the Ecobee or Nest site. They both have detailed install instructions. Typical thermostats are low voltage (24v) so no issue there. 1. Find the power switch at your furnace and turn it off. 2. Open you existing thermostat and take a picture of the wiring. Make sure you can read the...

    Smart Thermostat

My friend just got his Ecobee 3 yesterday. I have the Nest E. I would say the two are similar to the PC and Apple comparison. Ecobee shows you a lot more info and seems to have more options for you to tweek and play with. Whereas the Nest is packaged to make the user interface as simple as...

    Garage insulation

Water and physical protection are 2 different issues with different solutions. BX/armored cable provides physical protection. Not rated for wet. There are rated cables for use in wet locations. These may or may not included physical protection. NMW, Teck cable, etc.

Anybody looking forward to the ski/snowboard season?

Spent a great day at MSLM yesterday. First ride in 3 yrs. Got there about 2pm while it was still snowing. Enough new soft snow that I wasn't riding on the "ice cap" that we usually find in Ontario. MSLM is better for me b/c I save an hour on the return trip, short lift lines (even during...

    Smart Thermostat

Good tip! I have to try this. I thought the fan would only be for the summer. And the NEST software is like crayon drawings compared to your Ecobee screen!

    Smart Thermostat

One thing not mentioned so far about the new smart thermostats is the built in "people home" sensor. In addition to your programmed heating schedule, it is also checking to see if anybody's home. If nobody is home, your schedule is automatically override with a system shutoff temp. So furnace...

Some dealers ask to see your own bike insurance before they will let you test ride. Applied to both dealer bikes and demo days when I was checking out Ducati.

    Need help moving bike

Your lucky if you're not paid in full already. Lost my bike last Sept. Policy end date was May. Refund was not worth chasing. Edit: So I didn't cancel till the renewal came in. Price went from just under $900 to $2300 ! 100% at fault b/c bike slid off road and nobody else involved :(

    Need help moving bike

Don't cancel your SV insurance policy. Just let it run to end of term before you cancel. That policy could cover your new bike test rides and getting the new bike home. You won't get anything back anyways.

    Washer & Dryer Recommendation

About a year ago I went to HD for steel braided hose. They didn't carry them anymore. They had a shiny silver braided hose with plastic braiding on it so it looked like it was steel. I'll take another look the next time I'm in HD.
