    Riding Advice

Hey sorry all, I haven't been getting the notifications that people have responded to this thread and I just happened to be checking it. 1) I'm not sure. I haven't ridden a bike in a long time. I don't think I would be as cautious on a bicycle because I'd be riding on the side of the road...

    Riding Advice

It was awesome riding to work today! The cold on my legs was a bit of a surprise but it was fun nonetheless. I took the "flat" route home after work. Riding is definitely becoming more fun and I'm enjoying it a lot more. I plan to ride to work as much as possible next week weather permitting...

Thanks, I was thinking just to be safe I should take the flatter route until I get more comfortable starting and stopping uphill. I think I nodded to all the riders I saw today but I was all "sh*t I can't wave yet" ;)

    Used bike purchase question

I don't think they're too picky unless I got lucky. The woman at the Service Ontario desk just checked off that it was "fit" sight unseen and gave me the plate and the sticker no questions asked and I was only one of two people there first thing when it opened. All she seemed to care about was...

    Riding Advice

Hi All, I thought I'd update everyone since you were all good enough reply to my thread with advice and encouragement. I took the bike out last weekend around the neighbourhood doing the usual circuit but wanted to expand my comfort zone so I rode south on Woodbine to Lakeshore to the Unwin...

    Used bike purchase question

I'm a noob and I just purchased my first used bike two weeks ago. The seller rode the bike over to my place on Saturday and I got my temporary plate on Monday. Like nearace said, get the ownership, proof of insurance and then go to a Service Ontario office and pay the taxes and they'll issue...

    Riding Advice

Wow, thanks! Lots of great advice. Just when I think this thread is almost done people add new helpful information. At first I was worried about stalling the bike when starting at a stop light but riding around the neighbourhood and starting and stopping has helped me get the feel for where...

    Riding Advice

Yeah, I rode my bike to 109 Cycle on Monday at 10am to get it safetied. I took Gerrard across from Woodbine to Warden and it wasn't too bad. I did about 50km all the way so that was nice. I agree, going on busier streets during the early morning hours is a good idea. I just have to drag my...

    Riding Advice

Speed has never been an attraction for me, I guess that's why I drive a lifted Jeep with big mud tires. ;) I think Sabex makes a good point. I think I need to get the bike up to 50-60kph and get used to it that's why I plan on riding on Commissioners and Unwin. I plan on getting the custom...

    Riding Advice

Thanks for the replies and advice. I think you've all said what I already know but I guess I just needed to hear it from others. I'm fortunate in that I live in the Beach and I am about 2 minutes away from the parking lot where I did my riding course so I can practice there. Yesterday I...

    Riding Advice

Hi All, I'm a new rider and just purchased my first bike two weeks ago, a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250r and I got the bike plated and on the road last weekend. So far I've just been riding around my neighbourhood on side streets with very little traffic practicing the things I learned in my riding...

    Motorcycle Parking

Here's an article I found online from the National Post dated December 1, 2011. Looks like free parking for motorcycles and scooters in Toronto. "To this extent, Calvert is elated that Christmas has come early for scooter and motorcycle riders. Toronto City Council recently approved some major...

Going to finally pull the trigger! Tell me if I have all the steps correct.

I would recommend your next call be to your insurance company if you haven't already. Rates can vary quite a bit depending on your age, location and driving record. For the record, I'm 42 yrs old, clean driving record, no tickets or accidents and I'm paying $36/month ($432 annually) with State...

Going to finally pull the trigger! Tell me if I have all the steps correct.

BTW, I forgot to mention the bikes you learn on at the Learning Curves course are Honda CBR125 so they're small, light, easy to ride bikes. They also have a small 80cc dirt bike and a couple of other bikes like a Rebel which you can ride. I recommend trying as many different bikes during the...

Going to finally pull the trigger! Tell me if I have all the steps correct.

Hey kekekekyle, I'm a noob and I'm currently at Step 3 of the process you described, waiting for the 61st day to hand in my paperwork to the Ministry so I can add some information to your post. I took the Learning Curves course offered in the Beaches two weeks ago and I highly recommend...

Hi All, I joined the site a few months ago while I was contemplating getting a bike and I pulled the trigger. I wrote the M1 test, bought my gear, did the Learning Curves course, passed the M1 exit test and bought my bike, a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250r. I'm just waiting for the 61st day so I can...
