I appreciate the concept but if I'm really looking to avoid a rear end collision when I downshift or decelerate then I can easily press down on my rear brake to light up my tail light.

Worst case scenario you get charged for "Dangerous Driving"... which is not a provincial offense it's a Federal offense (Criminal Code).

Careless
Street Racing
Speeding
A motorcycle is a TOY not a Necessity.
If you need someone to justify this for you then my recommendation to you would be NOT to buy one.
Motorcycles are bought by emotion and passion, not logic.
I bought my dainese leather jacket at the show last year... It was cheaper than buying online (I had my iPhone with me and was cross checking prices with revzilla and STG).

Have your buddy just buy the Race ECU... Yes it's expensive but you can sell it used when you get rid of the bike.
