Cheap New Dual Sports - Which One Would You Buy?

Thanks sweetheart. If you bothered to read the thread, you'd know that the wr250x was only mentioned because of a typo. I was comparing the wr250r and wr250f. Regardless of their street legality. We were debating whether these bikes were based on the YZF platform or not. There was a typo in...

    Convertibles

I leave mine in, with a hitch lock. Protects my bumper in the dreaded grocery store parking lot! I had a lady yell at me for having it sticking out. She tore a hole in her bumper hitting it! 0 sh*ts given! Got rear ended in a drive through as well! Zero damage to my Xterra, dudes civic, not so...

The WR is actually based on the YZ. Guess that's where Yammy justifies the 2k more in price. Here's a good article on their woods bike, and the WR. WR bit is near the bottom...

I find the suspension quite good for the price point. You're correct in saying the bike is depenable. I've got 5200 hard kms on mine, 85% offroad, and other than oil changes, and cleaning the air filter, it's never let me down.

I see what you did there. My comments about maintenance and upkeep, aren't meant to be a detriment. Some people don't want to have to spend time with maintenance. In the original post the term "put away wet" was used. To me, this implies gas and go simplicity. Japanese race bikes, and European...

Cheap New Dual Sports - Which One Would You Buy?

The TW 200 is very dated. The suspension is very basic, engine is air cooled and underwhelming, and those large tires are a detriment. Not to mention it's only 500$ less than the CRF250L. Although I think a dirt inspired Grom would be fun, I think that "fun" would wear off real quick...

It's all in the rider. I routinely out ride a guy on a KTM 500exc-f with my lowly klx 250. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog!

That's a decent deal! I'd take that over a brand new crf250L. Just saying. I can appreciate the desire of wanting new though!

I contemplated buying the FE 350 when I bought my KLX. But price, and to a certain extent, maintenance concerns, changed my mind. I was able to walk in and pay cash for my KLX, but couldn't have for the Husky. It is a fantastic bike, just didn't want a loan on something I was going to beat up...

The Honda has better suspension, liquid cooling, better power, 6 speed gearbox....that particular Yammy is a dinosaur.

I was referring to Japanese street legal offroad orriented bikes. The full on race bikes are a different breed. I'm only offering recommendations based on the OP's criteria. Is best option is the Honda. No question. Sure, if you want to pay twice as much, and be willing to do a lot of...

Cheap New Dual Sports - Which One Would You Buy?

I've ridden these as well. Significantly more expensive then the OP is looking to spend. Huskies, KTM's, etc, are fantastic rides, when they are running right, and not requiring maintenance. The Honda may only have 18hp, but it'll have that for the next 20 years, with next to no maintenance. In...
