Shopping list for 2013 track season

For my last bike, I bought my Penske from Traxxion Dynamics in the US for less than $750 all in. I believe Sharrard will service them, but I take the point that Elka seems to have a lot more local support. Yes, I am familiar with John (he built the forks on my last bike) and spoke to him...

What exactly is wrong with penske? What makes the elka better?

Tires, warmers and a cold track

Its not supposed to be a race tire... imo they are quick enough for their intended customer *edited* when used for a "reasonable" mileage - i.e. probably a lot less than 1400 miles!

Tires, warmers and a cold track

These guys claim to have done 1,400 track miles without warmers on the superbike pros. http://canyonchasers.net/reviews/tires/pirelli-redstripe.php I have 5 days on a set (no warmers) and there is still tons of meat and grip is still acceptable for track riding. I did notice a bit of...

    Dems Da Brakes?

On the topic of brakes, what process do you follow for prepping rotors for a new pad compound? I'm switching over from vesrah street compound to performance friction 07 compound over the winter.

    another car thread

Another vote for a subie. Sure, they are a bit thirsty, but you get amazing traction in the winter and they are very reliable (EJ series motors are commonly used in aircraft applications). In my experience, they seem to have better corrosion resistance than other japanese cars as well.

    Bike Stolen :(

That notion is indeed ridiculous. The idea of them having to pay a higher premium on their theft insurance, however, is not if a statistically significant link between theft rates with bikes parked in condos can be established.

Best Place to get new rubber.

Dundas and Carlaw is considered part of scarborough now? This I did not know... I like dealing with Tony @ Bluestreak for tires. Fast shipping and great prices.

    Track for Newbie

Fawaz, that's true and I apologize for suggesting that she might have received more value out the track day than taking the course. The access to such amazing control riders is just one of the things that makes your track days so good.

    Track for Newbie

I've seen better - I took my friend to a racer 5 lapping/track school day and she asked scott rupert for a couple of tips. He ended up providing her 1 on 1 coaching for the entire day for free. I think she got better value from that track day than anyone who actually paid for the course lol...
