300 km/h motorcycle ride shocks Vancouver Island police

A 2004-2006 R1, which is the generation of R1 in that video, has been radar tested by various magazines to hit 295 kph bone stock, which most ppl would consider "close" to 300kph.

We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

More capacity is always nice, but realistically, if you havent solved your bear problem after the first 3 shots or so, you are probably dead anyways :)

We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

This is false. I have 14" 870 and it is non-restricted.

Dyno run videos from the FREE Dyno Day at DynoTunes, as requested!

My bike has something called a "dobeck gen 3" fuel tuner (i.e. dumbed down version of the powercommander). I used their suggested base map, which is obviously way too rich. I backed off the injector pulse width in the parking lot after the dyno run but didnt have an opportunity to take a second...

    Antigravity 4 cell battery

Interesting. I have an 8 cell shorai on my R1 and it started up without any difficulties at about 5 degrees after the second attempt.

    Pitching a 'corporate style' presentation.

You have some good advice here already. I will add: 1) Know your audience. Learn as much about them as you can you can in advance of the meeting and see if you can tailor your presentation based on this info 2) Anticipate questions/objections/concerns they will have. The temptation is to...

    Undertail Exhausts

05 R1 with a&r race baffles in stock Ti cans and gutted cats and no heat shields. I've only ridden this bike since this winter, but so far, no issues with excessive heat.

    I want a good Barbecue

I prefer charcoal over gas and have been very happy with my Weber kettle. That said, a buddy of mine picked up a big green egg recently and I have been dying to test it out.

    Pirelli tires

Well, thread highjack complete. :) So just to clarify, you got more than 12k out of supercorsa sp's? or with a different pirelli tire? Im still not clear on that.

    Pirelli tires

You got 12K out of supercorsa SP's? They only come with 3.5/5mm of tread new. Wow. These tires come stock on the 1198 etc and based on what Ive read on the ducati forums, most are getting under 6k out of them. Maybe I am a little a choppy. Maybe my bike makes a *little* bit more power than a...

    Pirelli tires

Agreed - If I get more than 5-6k out of the rear I'll be pretty happy. If you arent riding aggressively with this tire they are a complete waste.

    Pirelli tires

Supercorsa SP's came on the R1 I bought over the winter. Extremely fast warm up and awesome feel. Based on the sticky compound and shallow tread, I dont expect them to last very long or be any good in the rain. They are perfect for my purposes except for the price ($$$).

    going to dot3 from dot5

For a track bike that has fluid changed often (i.e. before every event in some cases), this is less of a concern.
  17. mma01

    going to dot3 from dot5

I can think of once instance where I would use DOT 3 over DOT 4. Ford HD DOT 3 is an inexpensive brake fluid that has a higher dry boiling point (550 degrees F) than most DOT 4 fluids, *BUT* it has worse a wet boiling point, which leads to its DOT 3 classification. If you change it frequently...

Anyone skipping trackdays the yesr due to $$$?

I cant speak about the repair bills for a bmw (Im probably going with a P-car this year), but insurance isnt that bad. I cross shopped the M3 and my insurance agent quoted me 1500 a year (35 y/o, clean record), which is only a couple hundred dollars more than my daily driver. Tires are other...

Thinking of moving near Allan Gardens. Opinions of the area?

I dont think that is a very good measure of a "decent" neighborhood. There are lots of areas with with average prices well above 350k that are still sketchy due to proximity to gov't subsidized housing, etc. (i.e. regent park.. avg home well over 400k) What area of toronto has an average...
