You usually have to put some sealant in the corners of the gasket when it dips down before you assemble it . Its in most of the honda manuals. I usually just use the grey or black permatex stuff, but im sure almost any quality sealant would work . ...
Also pay attention to the rubber washers...
Re: maybe thinking of a supermoto ? thought and opinions please
Im in guelph and have 690smc , It does what is surposed to do very well. It is fast compared to most of the street singles, but it is nothing like my cbr1100xx. I put a aftermaket seat on mine , as the stock one was a...
Thanks , I suggest it every year and most people don't get it..( my father actually had something like this at our farm to chain his bike too,) If it was me I would weld what ever fixtures you want on it. Short sections of heavy pipe sliced in half make good loops. .. Good luck

If you canot drill , will they let you throw a big chunch of plate down in yr spot with loops welded on ? I would expect new it could be found for less than a buck a lb. Maybe used a lot less from a scrap/salvage dealer . 1/4 plate is about 10 lbs a square foot .
40 cent a lb .. get 2 1/4...
I have 2010 smc, same motor I think. It is great at what it is surposed do. It feels like riding a mtb . It is really neat around town. It kind of neat to be able to blast down a pot holes granel road in he spring without getting thrown all over the place. I can find find wear running...
I think they only need the insurance info if they are getting plates for you . I was surprised too, the dealer sold mostly offroad stuff, and didn't want to bother going to the mto I guess..
When I bought my 690 smc new, the dealer just gave me the paper work to get the bike registered myself. I trucked the bike back to my town and got the plates at the local mto .
Just dump the tank, refill with gas, done.. There is is very little chance any of the oil has made it out of the tank. If you can see residue of the oil in the tank after dumping it, rinse again with gas. Don't run the mixed gass through your bike unless you are looking for headaches.
I would use an old school soldering iron like this . No Flame ..Just a lb of copper you preheat with a torch, or in the old days , a charcoal burner.

So , Im reading about the G9 and is appears that only 4 units can talk to each other at once ?? I must be missing something here ? Or is that only units can share the same phone call ?
I have have a old set of collet communicators that are barely ok. Does anyone have experience with the scala products. I am most interested in clarity of communications and range.
Thanks
Herb
I think if you weld to steel bolt in an aluminum case like that, there is a good change you you will melt the alum threads . The temperature required to weld the steel is way higher then the melting temp of most alum alloys . One of my old bikes had magnesium cases .. Welding to bolts in...
