problem with my is that it would stall in gear even with the clutch pulled in. I would need to give it gas first

So while changing my clutch a small piece broke off. From what i trouble shoot since the piece broke off when i go to first gear with holding in the clutch the bike would stall, but if i give it gas then it would be fine. Here is a pic...
