True enogh. However, I do commute a 174km round trip down two major highways every day I take the bike. There are all kinds of variables to cover individual situations, but as you, me and others have already (more or less) stated, there is a) no substitute for proper road based training courses...

Keep in mind that 30yrs ago, they taught people to avoid accidents by "laying the bike down". Thank Dog for progress.

And how far down the list is the part that teaches you about accident avoidance manouevers? The proper way to cross railway/streetcar tracks? How to overtake a large truck? Proper lane positioning for riding on multi-lane highways? Avoiding unexpected obstacles in your lane? Proper positioning...
