Your First Motorcycle Was a ............?

1975 Honda MT125, the trail on-off street legal version of Honda's CR125 Elsinore, their first 2-stroke motorcycles. After that, other 2-strokes were a 1977 Yamaha RD125, a 1984 Honda CR250 and a 1986 Suzuki RG500 Gamma. So out of the 17 motorcycles owned so far, 4 of them were 2-strokes.

    Motel & Hotel Stays

Listening to the radio this morning about less Canadians heading to the US, a Canadian that was interviewed mentioned that it was cheaper for him to ski in Japan where he has been twice already and in Austria than it is in western Canada. Go figure! Greedy Canada once again. That reminds me...

    Motel & Hotel Stays

When you find an excuse to put things off, you never end up doing it, so DO IT the next time. I felt the same way about Newfoundland with "damn, I have to take a ferry". Well it was worth it. Most of my riding in Italy was above the Turin, Milano, Verona, Venice and Trieste area, where the...

    Motel & Hotel Stays

I basically need a roof over my head along with a great view from where I am staying... €41 per night or about CA$65 in 2006 with my cabin overlooking the Mediterranean Sea to the east. Hotel Mare e Festa, Solenzara, Corsica. GPS: N41° 51.333' E009° 24.070' Being on the sea it needed a bit of...

    A petite rant

Well until you drive in other countries, you have no idea how bad Canadian drivers are and even those that were born here. You know, the left lane dreamers. I spent 27 summer vacations using the German Autobahn to get me to the Alps to ride. Autobahns between cities are two to three lanes wide...

    A petite rant

I've been "motorcycle" insured since 1975 and have been 100% accident free since 1976 (too much front brake while pulling into a gas station). I've been insured with Rider's Plus and Echelon for as long as I can remember and I always stick with an insurance company till they go nuts. Same...

    Affordable thin-walled spark plug sockets

I just would never take a chance on spark plugs being installed for that long.

Depends what kind of beer. I don't even drink Canadian beer as long as there are imported beers from Europe.

    Rabaconda tire changer

Since 1975, I have always changed my tires using two very flat Melco tire irons. In the early days, I used to use tape on them but later cut out a bunch of 2" x 5" plastic sheets from windshield washer bottles to protect my rims. I change my own tires to avoid nicks and gouges. But old age...

    Affordable thin-walled spark plug sockets

Got it. Is that a taper seat at the end of the threaded barrel? My 1974 Ford Capri had taper seats. A ***** to get out and you had to keep the socket and extension aligned or you'd break the ceramic on the outside.

    Affordable thin-walled spark plug sockets

When you have that happen, getting the ceramic tip out is a big plus because if it falls in you can get scoring. Not good. Then a 3 or 4 flute reamer can be hammered in and rotated to get out the stuck end. The stuck end in the cars I have seen (newer Porsches) are also threaded and can then be...

    Affordable thin-walled spark plug sockets

In about 55 years of wrenching, that has never happened to me where I stripped or broke off a spark plug thread in a head. Is that one of those Ford V10 engines that I heard about. I also never believed in those 160,000 km plug changes that one of the American car companies advertized...was it...

    Affordable thin-walled spark plug sockets

It wouldn't happen to be a 14 mm deep socket? ;) Normally I turn down a socket as well, but I got it on Amazon for $11.18. Never happened to me, but nothing is worse than jamming a socket into a spark plug well.

    Motel & Hotel Stays

Back in 2003 when I was there, I stayed in Stephenville at what was once one of the military apartments (I was wondering why I saw a USAF aircraft on a pillar as I entered), then in Flowers Cove and then in Englee. Also in Red Bay and Labrador City in Labrador. Lots of gravel back then, about...

    Motel & Hotel Stays

Last year I was looking at a ride through NY, VT, NH, ME to New Brunswick, but the exchange rate in the US was a killer then and now it is even worse at about $1.46. I was looking at all these B&B places. I am serious, well over US$200 a night. B&Bs are supposed to be cheap, at least they are...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

And why should they be funded with my tax dollars. It was always $1.4B and now they want $2B to $2.5B. Really? And then giving multiple bonuses to the top dogs at CBC who cannot produce a profit. Fire them! According to the internet and not some forum, CTV does not get funding or subsidies from...

Buying a vehicle (non motorcycle) as is from private vs dealer

I usually buy my vehicles NEW because I look after them. I buy Toyotas and Hondas and I am a tough sale getting huge discounts. I Krown them and do not drill holes and do all of the maintnenance and repairs myself. I also keep them 15 years. I also do not beat on my vehicles. My last used car at...

    Motel & Hotel Stays

Sort of like the Eating Out thread, trying to find overnight accomodations that is reasonable is harder than doing a control systems problem. My days of those 1000 milers is sort-of over and if you want to ride roads you haven't been over countless times, you have to expand your touring zone...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Sort of like CBC, piss-poor management and workers that think they cannot be replaced. Stop propping up what doesn't work.

Has anyone else been sick more than normal this winter?

Could be COVID 25. I am sure there are more puppets out there that will get 5+ jabs based on what some politician spews.
