    YYZ Plane Crash

As I stated in post #104 above, "a very few have it and most do not". And that applies to so many things in life at all levels from a tradesman to a brain surgeon. You do the same thing when you are towing a vehicle. Duhhhh.

    Two 12V questions

Polarity makes no difference unless you are using a temperature controller that is polarity sensitive.

What did you do in your garage today..?

But looking at my data logger graph, I would not expect the charger to turn back on at 12.88V as that is a fully charged (AGM) battery at rest and even on the high side for a standard FLA old tech battery at rest (normally12.6V). It is why I now disconnect my AGM at 12.9V, let the battery self...

    Two 12V questions

If this is a vest or jacket, R = V^2/W (wattage of the heated device). For a vest or jacket, 50W to 75W. So about 2 to 3 ohms.

    YYZ Plane Crash

It depends where you fly out of, a major airport or an airport in a small town. Flying out of a major airport gives you the confidence and practice to deal with tons of traffic, etc. The downside is, getting your PPL takes longer due to get to the practice area.

    Two 12V questions

Of course. You can also measure the resistance of the wiring in the heated gear. I am assuming it is a vest or jacket. If there is a break in the wiring, you won't measure anything and you will not get it to heat up.

    Padded motorcycle riding shorts

It is what had me buy a new 1990 BMW R100 GS. I always liked the seating position of a large dual purpose and that bike also has tubeless tires even though it is spoked. When I got it, it was a long one day trip on the BMW to Oshkosh, WI. Same speed but less fuel stops but what a difference in...

Your First Motorcycle Was a ............?

I remember when I worked in motorcycle shop back in the mid 70s, HD had a couple of 2-stroke models that were made by Aermacchi.

What did you do in your garage today..?

True, but in any other charger/maintainer "maintenance mode" is a steady voltage and remains there so I would expect the pulse to swing between 13.4V and 13.5V for example. And if anyone is posting graphs, label the X and Y axis with values. CTEK and Battery Tender seem to do this. I like it...

    YYZ Plane Crash

Now you got me pulling my log books out. I solo'd in 19.0 hours and prior to that, I was told to quit. That was devastating and I was in tears. But then I learned that some instructors just cannot teach and I learned a lot from that. I had my students landing in no time (obviously little to no...

    YYZ Plane Crash

I can tell you one thing. After years as a flight instructor, you realize that a very few have it and most do not. Its like motorcycling, driving or anything in life. I remember watching the Canadair Challenger mishap at I believe it was Shearwater. Talk about an effed up approach. I am sure he...

What did you do in your garage today..?

By the way, this is what CTEK lists for their Multi US 3300 charger. What does it tell me? SFA! Show some voltages. And this is what my data logger measured. A charger that switches ON and OFF and ON and OFF repeatedly. So where exactly is that Pulse Mode?

What did you do in your garage today..?

This was a charger/maintainer meaning it goes into a "float mode" after the bulk and absorption stages are completed. Having worked in a battery lab, I used to data log the whole charge algorithm of many chargers. At home, I have a MadgeTech voltage logger that I also use. And by the way, most...

    YYZ Plane Crash

Just about all YT videos and the comments on them are from "armchair pilots" that do not have a single hour of PIC time. Good aviation channels are Blancolirio, Mentour Pilot to name a very few. The TSB preliminary report showed both pilots having low time. The male captain had...

    Rejuvenating Hi-Vis Gear

Since this applies to both Men and Women Gear, I am posting it here. In the past, I used Aerostich Roadcrafter II motorcycle suits, from 1992 to 2016. Way back then, high tech gear wasn't what it is these days. Anyway 2 suits in 25 years, not bad although you did need a rain suit when it rained...

Why I sold my Guzzi, bought a Harley... and hate myself inside

By the way, a Moto Guzzi Treff (Meet) in Losenstein, Austria at a Gasthaus that I have stayed at several times. A great place to stay and the owner is a rider. Great rates, terrific food and beer. I must be the only non-Guzzi rider there.

What did you do in your garage today..?

Since I know batteries and charging systems, I prefer to not leave my batteries on a battery charger/maintainer all the time, so I disconnected it and attached my Battery Tender Voltage Indicator with LCD Display to monitor battery voltage every week or two. Unless you have some accessory...

Why I sold my Guzzi, bought a Harley... and hate myself inside

The two Guzzis I would have bought were from the mid 90s, but at just over $20K back then, too expensive compared to the BMW R100 GS that I bought new for half the price. 1000 Daytona and the 1100 Sport, both similar in styling. Absolutely gorgeous motorcycles. I did test drive a HD, but I...

    Padded motorcycle riding shorts

As for the "returns", does it matter if they have skid marks left in them. :ROFLMAO: I could have used these back in the early 90s when I drove my 1986 Yamaha XT350 to the EAA airshow in Oshkosh, WI. 800 km the first day and 600 km the second day on a dual-purpose seat. Not a good idea as I was...

    Motel & Hotel Stays

The report I heard on the radio is that the majority of ski slopes in Canada are owned by an American company, therefore no competition. Plus they know Canadians are well off... Not that I am there in the winter, but the area between Canazei and Cortina in Italy, you can daisy chain...
