    Riding with the old man

Sad to say I'll never get the chance, as my dad died several years before I was even old enough to get a license. Will always have the many hours on the seat behind him, though, and the love of motorcycling that he shared with me. If one wanted to be corny about it, one could say he always...

    Helmet bug juice!

Paper towel and water (warm or otherwise) works just fine for me. I have thought, from time to time, of investing in some rain-x or whatever to shed the water on wetter days. Meh, a quick wipe with the glove does a good enough job even then. As far as bug-gut density, my worst ride also...

    Iphone App for Motorcyclist

How about finding the route with the least amount of gridlock? Can it be made to be a fuel guage, and to run on a non-iPhone?

What kind of bike is this?

I like the looks of it. Just not the auto trans.

warnings were given - canada headed a step closer to a police state

True, however easy to enforce should not be the goal - justice and reason should be. Letter of the law is easy to enforce, but hard to write the law specifically enough to prevent abuse by the enforcers... speeding tickets are easy to write and convict, but generally don't do much to help...

warnings were given - canada headed a step closer to a police state

This hits the nail on the head, and is the basic idea behind our refugee laws. No one has a right to live anywhere, if you want to play the "my grandaddy's grandaddy was here before your grandaddy's grandaddy" game. The aboriginals who crossed the bearing strait land bridge killed all the giant...

    Any cement heads here?

Perfect - that is exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks Paul.

    Getting around traffic

I did something new (to me) yesterday. I normally take Bremner to Spadina to get on the Gardiner to get home. Yesterday, for some reason I don't understand, traffic was a complete snarl, and only about one or two vehicles was getting through the left turn onto Spadina per green signal. After...

    Electric Motorcycles?

I'll be all over these, once they get the range up past 200km per charge. As they are, I wouldn't even make it to work without changing batteries.

    Any cement heads here?

Anyone have a rough idea of what it would cost to get an 8x8 slab poured? I need to put up a shed, and don't feel like breaking my back with patio stones. Am I even in the same ballpark, cost wise?

    Frickin' Parking Ticket

Same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago, OP. Permit required until 7am, ticket time is 6:51am. I'm going to try the 'waiting game' prescribed here: http://www.ticketcombat.com/ Maybe I'll get lost in the shuffle - can't get worse than the $30 unless you actually try to fight it.

how long is your commute to work?

60km Burlington to downtown. 45min-1hr in, 1hr-90min home. Why is it that so many of us have a much longer commute home? How the frak does that work out? WTF?

    Gas stations & motorcycles rant!

I can live with prepay. I can live with getting off the bike to fill it. I cannot stand the pumps that have no flow control, and are either full-blast or off. These are the stations I boycott.

    Rotor Thickness

Yes - looking for my 2000 honda vt750 shadow ace. I had seen those, but had no idea how to guage the fitness of a used part. Not knowing any better, the idea of used brakes kind of makes me uneasy. Thanks for reassuring me that used OEM is a safe option. Where? I'd gladly spend $200 for new...

    Rotor Thickness

Ok, well, I guess that answers the question, then - if a new one is starting at the minimum thickness, it isn't going to last. If I can't get some answers as to the thickness of the other aftermarket rotors, I'll turn my search to used OEM. Thanks for the help guys - you've probably saved me...

    Rotor Thickness

Excellent piece of information, thanks Johnny. So when they get too thin - is the issue that the caliper can no longer squeeze it tight enough, or is it that the rotor is no longer strong enough and may break (and therefore won't brake)?
