Where to buy some cheap gear?

When I took my course I didn't have the right boots. Doc's leathers on Queen has a used section upstairs - I got a pair of boots for $15.

    Local Shops VS Online Dealers.....discuss.

What does that mean? (not being a jerk, I really don't understand the phrase). Also: even without wasting any salesperson's time, trying stuff on wears out the product. Personally I find it gross enough to think of all the sweaty but honest armpits that have gone into the jacket I'm about to...

    Local Shops VS Online Dealers.....discuss.

I said it was like stealing. There have been many times when I wanted the help of a sales person, was unable to find one who was free and so I left the store (Apple Stores everywhere take note!). If there had been someone available to answer my questions, I would have made a purchase. If it...

Maybe, maybe not, depending on whether you want the item that day or are willing to wait a month and pay unknown duties/taxes. It certainly would have been a good choice if we were comparing $402 and $408. I also think she would have made a good decision if she chose the $2 Chinese ebay order...

Options for testing bike on the street?

No, that's a good point that ought to be clarified. My first paragraph was intended to keep the OP out of trouble with the police. (And I reitterate that I'm not sure if that is even a legit use of the temp plate). I redirect your attention to my second paragraph in regards to the liability risk.

Options for testing bike on the street?

There is a 'temporary plate' you can get for cars. It is supposed to be just to get an uncertified car from the sellers property to your mechanic for the safety, I think, but this may also be a legitimate use of it. Not sure if temp plates exist for bikes, though. Also, you should maybe take...

    Local Shops VS Online Dealers.....discuss.

The way I see it, is that there is an unspoken agreement when you start trying stuff on in a store, and that is that you are going to give them the opportunity to sell you something. It is the shop's job to offer you something that is of value to you for a price that is reasonable, and if they...

    confusion at the drivetest center?

When I did it they gave me an envelope that I had to take to MTO, instead of doing the test through the drivetest place. I'm not sure if they go by the date of the test, or the date that you show up at the MTO. Probably safest to get both done within the 90 days.

Took a few pics of some bikes in Cuba

There's also a bunch of chinese knock-offs of the same pre-WWII BMW model.

Your home is not your castle

Sorry, my sarcasm doesn't translate well to the typed word. I was making a joke about people hiding stuff up their poop-chutes. And also trying to suggest that people who agree with this sort of law would also enjoy a good anal probing, for the sake of public safety. (And no, you can't search...

Using CAA to get to storage?

Their rules have definately become more flexible in the last few years - it seems that they have accepted the 'misuse' now, rather than trying to fight it. However I do think that the service agreement still is pretty clear that it is for breakdown/emergency service only, as opposed to...

Using CAA to get to storage?

Technically you are breaking the CAA rules, and if you get a real rules nazi, I think they could pull your membership. That said, I've done way shadier stuff over the years, and not one driver has even looked at me crooked for it (ie: very obviously having someone else with a membership show up...

6 AM and its 11 degrees, going up to 16....

I've been off riding the last week and a half (stupid aging joints!), and was worried I missed the last of the season. Got in the habbit of taking the GO, and felt like a fool for having missed yesterday. Rode in today and, even with the bit of rain, it felt glorious!

    Selling on a payment plan

The deal, as you described it sounds great to me, so long as you have it documented and signed. If you have the space to store it, theft/fire insurance should be negligable. If he pays, you win. If he doesn't pay, you win. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I got my "invoices" for speeding :D

Let's forget the cameras and attach a laser cannon to the radar instead. If you're stupid enough to drive fast you, and all your passengers, deserve instant fiery death, without any form of due process whatsoever.
