Toronto Motorcycle Show Feb 21-23 at Direct Energy Centre

It looks like all of the shows have moved around. The National Motorcycle and Tattoo Show is now April 12 & 13 at, I believe, the Better Living Centre at Exhibition Place.

Toronto Motorcycle Show Feb 21-23 at Direct Energy Centre

The "deals" that GP had at the January show were horrible. I remember when I started riding, their show deals were a lot better. This time, if you spent $400, you got a $20 gift card to use on your next purchase - that's right - your next purchase. Lame. Grab a GP catalog. If it still has the...

    Continuous Coverage?

Have you gone to the MTO to put the new bike in your name (new ownership)? They require the bike to be insured when this happens.

You should also send frekeyguy a pm. He's got a very good reputation on GTAM.

    Top end at 14K

That is cool! The valves and springs are actually rotating. I have a 1987 Honda CBR250R that redlines at 18k. I imagine there are some funky thinks happening in there too.

    GP BIKES 2014 Trackdays

I'm thinking about getting started with track days this year. Can you tell me what prep needs to be performed on the bike ahead of time? What are the items that your inspectors look for?

Why I don't think fuel stabilizer on an EFI bike is necessary

I didn't know that Shell's V-Power 91 octane didn't contain Ethanol. I assume their lower-octane fuels do. An engine that is designed to run on 87 octane cannot be damaged in any way when operated with a higher octane fuel. It is, however, a waste of money to use a higher octane than is needed...

Why I don't think fuel stabilizer on an EFI bike is necessary

Is your post based in fact or is it your personal opinion? I disagree with several of your points. Over time, untreated "pure gas" will (a) lose it's volatility due to evaporation, (b) oxidate and (c) accumulate moisture. Fuel stabilizer helps to slow this process. Oxidation of gas causes gum...

Cleaning excess lube from rear tire

That'll work but when I'm cleaning the tire, I spray the Spray-Nine directly onto the tire, scrub with a brush (something like this: http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/3/HouseHome/CleaningTools/CleaningBrushesClothsAndWipes/PRD~0428451P/Likewise+Flexible+Scrub+Brush.jsp?locale=en) then rinse...

Cleaning excess lube from rear tire

Whenever I wash my bike, I clean the tires with Spray-Nine. It's a detergent, but it rinses off completely and removes all oil and grime from the tire. I personally have never had a problem doing this.

Turn Signals got fried on my ninja 250 , need help

I'd suggest picking up a digital multimeter (DMM) from Canadian Tire - something cheap, not too fancy. It'll be very helpful. Make sure your bulbs are still good. Visually inspect the filaments. Check that there isn't any corrosion in the bulb sockets. Check for voltage in the bulb sockets...

    2005 SV650s Won't start...help

Also, what year is your bike and how many kms do you have on it? I have a 2004 SV and it suffered, thankfully only mildly, from the infamous ignition switch connector failure. See this thread for more info. If it gives you nightmares, it's not my fault. ;)...

    2005 SV650s Won't start...help

This meter can't do a load test. It can measure a current of up to 10A (per the description, 20A per the photo). If you connect this meter across a battery in current mode, you'll blow the internal fuse.

    2005 SV650s Won't start...help

I know the OP said he doesn't have a voltmeter (digital multimeter), but for everyone else, the problem with putting a voltmeter on a battery is, it won't tell you if the battery is good or not. A dead battery can still read around 12 volts. The only way to know for sure is to put a load on it...
