    Newmarket/Aurora this weekend? May 23/24

Anyone in Newmarket/Aurora want to meet up for a ride either Saturday or Sunday? I was thinking of heading out along hwy 9 to Hockley Valley, but I'm open to other routes. Cheers!

Where do you buy your parts?

I went to Suzuki of Newmarket on the weekend, went upstairs to their apparel and accessories section... I've seen garage sales that are more organized, and with newer stuff. Most of the stock looked like it had been sitting there for 10+ years, stuff in piles on the ground, no variety of sizes...

Where do you buy your parts?

Not a lot of choice around here... My local dealer, Serpa Motorrad, is gone. That leaves Suzuki of Newmarket... need I say more?

Where do you buy your parts?

Canadian Tire doesn't stock my filter, nor will the order it in for me, but I pretty much always get my oil from them. I've gotten a few things from A Vicious Cycle, now twistedthrottle.ca. For stuff like sprockets, chains, brake pads, rotors, etc., dealers aren't necessarily more expensive...

Strangest Thing You Carried on the bike of your bike?

Half a dozen rolls of wallpaper... I used to work for a pain/wallpaper store, and another location needed them right away for a customer... I got to leave work in the middle of the day for a nice ride, and may have taken the long way back. :D

Shipping Bike over 3000 KM - Ideas?

I don't have any experience with it, but I can remember reading in a few places that most Harley dealers are well versed in shipping customers' bikes around. Something about Harley owners wanting to vacation with their bikes without having to go to the trouble of actually riding them! Might be...

    aviciouscycle gone?

I got a notice a while back that Twisted Throttle had bought out A Vicious Cycle, but it would still be the same staff running the Canadian side of things. I hope it stays that way, they've been great to deal with.

Big Guy New to Bikes? Please Help!!

I'm not too far off of your size, and I agree it's hard to find a bike that fits... I ended up with a '99 BMW F650, lots of leg room and plenty of torque to get me moving. As other have suggested, have a look at the KLR 650; although the seat isn't the most comfortable, it's decent for...

    Small Displacement bike options?

My brother's first bike was a Yamaha TW200... he's 6'3", so it was a little small, but was a great bike to learn on. Fully street legal, and you can get road tires for it.

    cc limit for new riders

When I started riding, my father imposed a size limit on my bike... I spent my first year of riding on a Honda CH150. Being fat assed, and 6'3" tall, I had to sit in the passenger seat just to have enough leg room, but I knew it was a necessary step to moving up. I also think that learning on...

    Sideswiped at roughly 40KM/H

Had a similar situation happen to me years ago when a Young Drivers of Canada instructor (no student in car) who was on her cell phone, didn't pay attention when turning left in a residential area. I was on the horn when she started turning, but it was my boot hitting her passenger door that...

    Helmet doesn't feel right

Different brands can fit quite differently... even different models from the same brand can be different. The foam will compact to some degree over time.

Where do you buy your gear? Recommend me the cheapest local and online retailers...

Re: Where do you guy your gear? Recommend me the cheapest local and online retailers. Higher price doesn't always mean better quality or safer. I wear an HJC helmet because that's what fits me the best; although it is SNELL/DOT Approved. I've tried on more expensive brands, but they didn't...

    Reputable Mechanic in Newmarket/Aurora?

I've heard good things about Motorcycle City on Elgin Mills, but I've never used them personally... they won't work on BMWs.

Jacket recommendation for a fat guy

I ended up kicking off work early yesterday and took a trip up to Royal... Pretty much tried on everything in my size that they had... most of them were just too tight in the shoulders. Joe Rocket sizing is all over the board! Their tall sizes seem to fit a size bigger. Even last year's Alter...

    Reputable Mechanic in Newmarket/Aurora?

I've lived in Newmarket for 9 years, and have yet to find a mechanic in town. As far as I can tell, Suzuki/Yamaha of Newmarket is the only game in town, and based on reviews from others on this board, I wouldn't trust them with my bike. If you find one, let me know... If you're looking for...

    Motorcycle Rental in Newfoundland?

Don't forget the cost of the ferry... Sydney to Port Aux Basques is $42.43 for yourself, and another $55.89 for the bike each way! Don't forget to add the HST on that too! We were going to do an East Coast road trip a few years ago, but once we factored in the cost of getting a car with 2...
