Channel locks will work for oil changes, I bought a 7 dollar one at walmart last year to do the job on my CBR and now for my SV650. I use $10 HiFlo filters and they haven't been punctured yet. Or you can get K&N filters with the screw on the end and just use a plain wrench to tighten.
