If I am not mistaken Kevlar weight (gsm) has direct correlation to fabric thickness. So pants made from 400 gsm Kevlar fabric will be thicker then pants made with 230 gsm kevlar. Also don't forget the fabric itself - good jeans will 10-14 oz or higher denim. Here is old thread with some good...

Almost half of my gear is BMW - great quality, excellent customer service, etc. All of them low profile (ie no huge BMW logos) which is nice as I ride Yamaha and the only BMWs we have are cars (although I do like new liquid cooled GS1200!)
