At what point is it not a hobby anymore?

I like Black Camaro's response here. I simply use my bikes for fun rides and choose to commute in the truck. I can see how that would take some fun out of it for some people. A new bike of course will re ignite the excitement. I've been lucky to have had multiple different bikes without losing...

    What does "with ownership" mean?!

Yeah these guys nailed it. You'll find that with most used older Motocross bikes, someone has lost the ownership along the way. Ownership/insurance/offroad green plate is not required for mx track use or riding on private property. Only legal trails like mentioned above require it. Many dirt...

    Nakeds that ride like sports

What are you paying on the 500 right now? $310 a month is almost 4K a year.. ouch. Novelty of any bike wears off pretty quick and paying 310 a month while it sits in storage over the winter months is painful!

IF MC insurance was $400/yr, would you own more than one bike?

Absolutely. Did 3 bikes for awhile. Nice to have options and bikes that are built for a specific purpose. For now its a plated 450 exc (well under $400/year) for dirt/connecting trails and a drz400sm for street ($650/year). Id like to add another more street worthy bike for longer distances even...

Tell Ontario you want better motorcycle insurance - the petition is live

Put me down for another who would own multiple bikes. For the last year or so I had 3, each with their own policy, but it was such a waste. I didn't get enough time on them all to justify the cost anymore. I'm down to one street bike and a blue plated dirt bike which barely counts as its...

    Thinking of going Trail/Supermoto

I came here to say this. I have gone from dual sport to mx bike, back and forth many times. Now have both again but thinking of selling my yz250f.. same old story. Be honest with yourself about how often, and where you will ride. Anytime I get a mx bike it usually ends up sitting due to plans...

Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

This is painful. '10 wr450f blue plated. Apparently 400km so almost new... BUT asking $9000 lol https://www.kijiji.ca/v-dirt-bikes-motocross/markham-york-region/2010-blue-plated-wr450f/1408957477?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

Motorcycles may be allowed in HOV lanes?

I do like this point and always hate sitting and watching my rear view for people who aren't paying attention. I wont complain if it becomes legal, I would likely use it if traffic slows down, but due to my current ride choices I don't like cruising much above 110-115ish so I don't want to be a...

Motorcycles may be allowed in HOV lanes?

The article seems to state that they think they have a very strong case in favour of allowing motorcycles to use the HOV with a single occupant. But I am struggling a bit to see solid points as to why it would be safer and help the flow of traffic. I certainly agree that it's probably not the...

Motorcycles may be allowed in HOV lanes?

http://canadamotoguide.com/2018/12/12/opinion-smart-politics/ Over the years I've always seen quite a few bikes using the HOV lanes. Looks like there is a possibility for it to become legal fairly soon. Thoughts?

    Winter storage question

I'm with you on this... For winter storage we're talking a few months. I know gas goes to crap relatively quickly, but I've stored many bikes of mine topped up with gas that contains ethanol, added stabilizer and never had issues starting in the spring. Usually put the bikes away for good...

    Winter (Snow) Riding

Define "snow" riding. I've been out dirt biking when theres a couple inches on the ground, deep snow though? Forget it. Used to have a MX track on my uncles farm and if we burned enough laps with a bit of snow the dirt would show through and we could still have some good fun. I've also had...

    Triumph Street Triple

Sorry I wont be able to help much, but I've been on an older 2009 model a few times. The motor is a thing of beauty. My friend's only issue in 35k was needing a new stator.

The non-crash that could have been

Had a very similar situation earlier this summer. Heading north just crossing the 401 on Guelph line, there is an exit ramp with a stop sign specific for westbound 401 travelers to turn left (south) onto guelph line. North and south bound traffic on Guelph line (Me northbound) have no stop sign...

M2 exit to full M without 400 hwys?

Gotta agree with some of the folks above.. if you say you CAN do the highway if you have to, but choose to avoid it, why not just do the test and be done with it? Easily spend less than 5 min on the hwy during the test, simple merge, lane change and back then exit.. You may be over thinking this.

Iron 883 one of the most beautiful and also maligned motorcycle

I had one briefly. Of course it's heavy and underpowered but I still had fun on it. I have had high performance machines as well but the beauty of motorcycles is that there are so many different ways to enjoy them. I feel sorry for the people who stick to one type of ride and speak negatively...

Is it time to finally give up the R6 dream?

^ agreed lol. I picked up a grom this year and its sparked my love for riding again believe it or not lol. Been on the street for almost 7 years now, started on a ninja 250 and have had almost everything else in between, nakeds, 2 supersports, a couple dual sports/supermotos and even a harley...
