OPP to target dangerous drivers on long weekend

Why don't they target dangerous drivers all the time?

Childhood memories of LEGO and (Toys).

Although I had plenty of Lego, my first choice was always Hot Wheels. Had tons of track, dual-level "Supercharger" (motorized accelerator that sped a car down the track) and moved on to Sizzlers, the rechargable Hot Wheels. I even had the little motorcycles that would only work when you...

Ghost Rider:Spirit of Vengeance - The Flaming One goes all Yamaha

Yes, your favourite Hero from Hell has switched from a custom H-D to a V-Max in his next movie. I think he was ticked that not a lot of people liked his first movie, so he's definitely looking more bad-*** in this trailer... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1071875/

    Lake Superior circumnavigation

Looks like a place to visit - it's a little off my path this time, will have to remember for another day. Been to the National Railway Museum in York, England - it was pretty awesome. Forecast for up north next week - encouraging! 20-22º high, 10-12º low. And Sunny :)

    Gas stations & motorcycles rant!

I don't think I'm clumsy, but on two separate occasions I've started filling up at what looked like a reputable station, only to feel cold gas leaking down from a ruptured hose and onto my hand, as well as dribbling onto the ground at the lowest point on the hose. That's bad enough, but if I...

    Heated Grips or Heated Gloves

Grips - when you're in the middle of a ride it's nice to flick 'em on and keep going. No need to carry the gloves and then stop to change. Did someone say warm and wet? That's the ticket.

watch out if you are following a convertible!!!

Does anyone actually think that someone intentionally inhaling carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, arsenic, and DDT has any real concerns for you? If you can smell it or see it, find a new lane or get ready, cuz that smouldering butt is coming at some point.

looking to do a trip this weekend need advice

OK Mother Nature - will you cut it out already? Killer tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, heat waves - what next? Ice storm in September? Some reports that parts of NYC ready to evacuate for this one - so knock it off!

looking to do a trip this weekend need advice

Ambitious. I'd probably spend 3 days going through NYC alone. And DC. Not so much Philly. Maybe for a cheesesteak!

looking to do a trip this weekend need advice

I don't know what it might be. Maybe the OP likes superslab. If you must go through there, I suggest Sarnia over Windsor. It's only an extra 20km but the US Customs there aren't anywhere near as nasty as Windsor. The 402 (while just as boring) isn't as busy as the 401. Just gotta watch out...

    Lake Superior circumnavigation

That would be a pretty long weekend, it's 3,000km from London and back. I can't go until after Labour Day, but let me know if you make it!

    Lake Superior circumnavigation

Fair enough - I am going to take some extra time on this trip and only "push it" to get up to the top of Michigan and back. The route, as per Google's interpretation, without including side trips to anything that looks interesting: Thanks to Tom I will now probably be dropping some cash at...

    Lake Superior circumnavigation

For my last long jaunt of 2011, I was going to circle Lake Superior. I searched for Superior in the threads and found some comments that the south (USA) side is boring. However, didn't see any reasons why the authors said it was. Frankly I don't find any place that I've never been before to be...

    Transcontinental ride (July 1, 2011)

Re: Tidbits Good work on the pictures. Brings a lot of memories of my own back, as I saw many of those sights on my '09 ride. I guess when it hit 35º or so on my trip, it was just a candle flame to your blast furnace though. Loved the snow.

Tires tires Tires - what tires are best for touring?

That doesn't sound good at all. I'm on PR2's from last year with about 8k on them and they still look fine. Also put 14k on a set of Dunlop Roadsmarts in '09 and they probably could have gone another 2k. Worst tire I've had so far - Bridgestone OEM's on the C14 were prone to cupping. I'm not...

Parking and courtesy to other drivers?

This has given me a great idea for a new paint job. I wonder if I can use non-functional blue reflectors?

Someone's bike is in peril while parked - what to do?

I see both sides to the story, and I was imagining, what would I have done if I'd walked up to my bike seeing someone handling it. Yeah, I'd guess my first impression would be - WTF are you doing??? But - knowing these people were riders, and it would have been obvious pointing to two big...

    Ring Around The Erie

My little 3-day excursion has come to an end, starting out in Bath NY where I headed up along the shores of Lake Keuka (a finger lake) where I found a monument for Glenn Curtiss, a pioneer in naval aviation. His company, Curtiss-Wright, manufactured all sorts of cool aircraft back in the day...

Someone's bike is in peril while parked - what to do?

First of all, I admit my ignorance and flaming me will only make me laugh. Yesterday I rode into a parking lot at a hotel. There were a lot of other bikes there too, and all of them had set up a parking "puck" under their kickstands, because it was hot and the pavement was questionable. Now I...
