What was your first street bike?

1983 Suzuki GR650 Tempter. Only got it because it was cheap and not fast in any respect. It wasn't in great shape though, and I'm no mechanic, so 6 months later I decided I should get something new, with a warranty and wasn't going to feel like it was shaking apart. So I got an end-of-year...

    Scandinavian Motorcycle tour

Interesting. I've been on Edelweiss tours, and they've been very well run, but the other one here, mbte, seems a lot less expensive. Have you received any other info from them besides the website? I wonder if there is something they're not telling you, like insurance is extra or some little...

    Cost per day to tour

You are eating in the wrong place. 2 weeks ago had a fantastic prime rib the size of a freaking football, about a pound of garlic mashed potatoes, a cup of chowder and a freshly baked entire loaf of bread for $11. Find me that in Canada. I couldn't even eat half of it. Diners in small towns...

Careful out there....severe TStorms, hail and tornado warnings

Intellicast shows a definite line of storms pushing down from Lake Huron, right for GTA and all of SWO. Could be nasty

Route for 3 day trip through upstate New York/Vermont/New Hampshire/Maine

Those look like some of the roads I will be on. It looks like it would be nice and quiet (traffic wise) so here's hoping!

Route for 3 day trip through upstate New York/Vermont/New Hampshire/Maine

1,205 km, 16 hours 24 mins NH-16 S and ME-113 S So this is day 1? What about your other 2 days? I am hoping to go to Killington VT and roads thereabouts, but not 1,205km in one day.:salute:

Like riding in the USA? Want to pay more for it?

You're right I would keep going. But I would love to see the border shut down and all those tourist dollars stop if they were to deny access without a fee.

Like riding in the USA? Want to pay more for it?

http://www.canoe.ca/Travel/USA/2013/04/22/20761796.html Not sure if this would ever come to fruition, but I go at least once a month. This would stop me.

    Your Opinion: Super 8 Lodging

Super 8's are also part of Wyndham Rewards. I usually get at least 1 free night a year from them. I do prefer the Microtel over the S8. Many seem newer and have more current furnishings. But as others have said, I always look up Tripadvisor and GoogleReviews wherever I go, and sometimes you...

    Road suggestions

Better check the Cherohala news before you go first - it's closed right now because of landslides. http://www.grahamstar.com/articles/2013/01/17/breaking_news/doc50f86f49a2530449359649.txt

Edelweiss Bike Tour - Grand Alps or Kings and Castle tour? Which one is better?

I notice the Alps is "Tough" and the Castles is "Intermediate". I was on the Best Of Europe last year and it was only "Moderate". I was under the impression that it's probably Moderate for people used to crazy hairpins, careening tourbuses and 200km/h Autobahns. So completely different than...

    Kennebunkport, Maine (ding ding!)

What a beautiful day! Not warmer than 24 and sun, sun, sun! Rode into the White Mountain National Forest and it was (almost*) totally awesome. Route was the Sawyer Hwy (NH 118), the Kancamagus Hwy (NH 112) ad Bear Notch Rd. Here's the * and only bad part - Sawyer should get his name off of...

    Kennebunkport, Maine (ding ding!)

Today I toured around the coast of Maine, stopping for the required Lobster and New England clam chowder. Chowder is filling! The restaurant I went to was in a fishing inlet, and there were some lobster boats unloading the catch of the day. Poor little guys, too bad you're so tasty :) Problem...

    Kennebunkport, Maine (ding ding!)

Ok, Not a lot of trolley car fans out there, I get it! I rode from Geneva, NY to Tilton, NH today - some fairly nice roads through the hills, once I got past Albany. Took NY state route 7/VT route 9 which was very nice past Bennington, VT. Road followed a rocky river across Hogback Mtn. Not...

    Kennebunkport, Maine (ding ding!)

So I've decided to head here: http://www.trolleymuseum.org/ I figure I've been to museums for bikes, cars, planes, trains, tanks - but here's another form of powered/wheeled transport I haven't been to. Plan on making it there in 2 days crossing NY, VE, NH - actually staying in NH for 3 nights...
