    BMW Service around GTA

+1. Awesome service guys and great sales department as well.

Drive Right. (GTFO of the left lane.)

I would have no issue whatsoever with much stricter licensing requirements and every driver having to be re-tested on the road every five years. And much stricter certification requirements for driving schools, including emergency maneuvers, and rain and snow driving. I don't even care how much...

Picking up and talking to chicks on bicycles and scooters downtown.

+1,000. Young guys trying to figure out how to meet women reading this thread, this is the most important post. The bike may act as a confidence booster but try to act in the same manner without the bike. You'll find that it's all about you. The other benefit of not using a sexy and expensive...

    Hit & Run

Somewhat related. I was in a city outdoor parking lot downtown at a ticket machine. As I was buying my ticket a woman in a black BMW slowly backed into a parked car. She hesitated for a second, then slowly pulled away and up to the end of the lot and waited for cars on the street to pass so...

    Penalty for Weaving Traffic

I think that enough of us would do things like that to make most cagers used to it by now.

R1 returns to rider after lowside.

That's probably the second funniest crash I've ever seen. First one being on the same corner when the guy on the Harley bounces off the ground back up, walks away, and swears loudly.

what do you wear in summer?

I do wash mine after every ride; that'd be gross to not do that. When riding through hot and humid southern states and sweating all day the synthetic would always smell a bit but cotton shirts wouldn't.

    Are older bikes high maintenance?

Well I absolutely love the older BMW bikes, especially naked and in black. I always heard that they lasted a long time. I'll keep that in mind but I've just been made aware of the service intervals on the Honda CB500F (8000 km between oil changes, 16K between major services) and that is very...

    BMW owners movement!

K13R is absolutely beautiful. I did find it to be too much power though; after the demo I was satisfied back on my F800R!

what do you wear in summer?

Yep. I wear an Under Armor moisture wicking shirt under my perforated jacket. Pour some water on the shirt and even on 30°+ days I'm actually cold when riding at speed, haha. Too bad I don't have perforated pants. The only problem with synthetic materials is that they smell more.

    Are older bikes high maintenance?

I guess what I'm trying to avoid is a high cost per km travelled. I do far too many km in a year. I was thinking of an older bike because I could maintain it myself, or at least try to. But I guess there's still a good chance of me not being able to fix it and having to pay lots of money anyway.

I rode my first supersport bike and..

Slalom is quite easy, even on today's bikes. It simply requires clutch, throttle, and rear brake control. If one can't do it properly they should practice more. Or start on a bike that's easier than a SS. I agree with everything else you said, though.

Haha, you're absolutely right about that.

    Moto Gymkhana Drills

F800R, the German competition to a Street Triple. It, too, is an easy bike to maneuver at low speeds.

    Are older bikes high maintenance?

Thanks for the story. I can imagine getting to the point of doing that myself after a lot of practice and time working on an older bike. Though when I get back I might not even have access to a garage to do work in.

Subscribed. I'll keep an eye and see if I can join for next time.

what do you wear in summer?

When it's REALLY hot, mesh jacket, pants, and t-shirt underneath. Just pour water down your neck and the shirt will feel super cool. Not recommended for commuting.

    Are older bikes high maintenance?

Sounds like I'd be better off buying a newer but cheaper maintenance bike than my current one then. I wish Honda would bring the new CB400SF here; I find that the styling on the new CB500F is too aggressive for its size. Thanks for the input, everyone. (I do have a very long time before I have...

    Are older bikes high maintenance?

So I'm heading to China and will soon sell my F800R. One of the things that I loved about this bike is that, like most new bikes, it just worked all the time. I never had any issues in the 25,000 km that I put on it since 2011. With regular maintenance, I would expect it to go for quite a long...

Riders Ticketed By Cops at Wasaga Beach Today

Good idea to always have a couple of GoPros on one's bike (front and rear facing) to record the stupidity of other drivers and to protect oneself. Ideally, a wireless camera that live streamed the video to a server online in case someone broke the camera. (Unfortunately, our data rates are...
