Not quite. OP could just avoid the dangerous streets and go for casual rides out of the city. I realized that commuting by motorcycle is stressful, can be dangerous, and not for me. Doesn't help that our laws make it more dangerous for riders than in other jurisdictions around the world.
I was just about to post that. I'm surprised that more gear isn't mandated by law or at least the insurance companies to prevent excessive medical costs from squids crashing with no gear on. I'd expect (in addition to helmet) at least jacket, gloves, and boots, preferably with pants as well. I...
This is a recommendation in a different direction... Get panniers. Or at least a tank bag or rear seat bag.
I'd ridden for years with small and large backpacks and they were always fine. But once I rode a bike with panniers I never looked back. Now I can't ride with a backpack because it makes...
I'm unsure of what you mean here. It seems like you filtered between your lane and a lane of stopped but running cars. But you mention in your second paragraph that they were parked?
If it was a lane of parked cars and you were in it, you can argue that that is legal. You're allowed to share...
For those who don't know, number of gears doesn't necessarily correspond to top speed. Having more gears just gives more options to ride in the correct power band of the bike.
Plus they're geared not for 0-100 acceleration but 100-250 which is more useful on the track. They're already so fast at 0-100 that smaller gears would make it more difficult to control smooth acceleration anyway.
One thing that confuses me is people who talk about barely getting out of first...
That was embarrassing on so many levels. I hope that fist-bumping kid looks at the vid and realizes how much of a dingus the rider is and how goofy the kid himself looked and ends up learning from his experience.
Anything above 700 is good so your 681 should be fine. Though why not just wait a bit longer and pay off your credit cards and student loan before you take on more debt?
New CB500F was mentioned.
Great for insurance due to the smaller engine. Lots of torque to get you up to speed. And enough power for highway cruising.
One awesome point is that oil changes are every 8,000 km and service is every 16,000 km! For putting on a lot of distance that would save a lot...
I think that there's a difference in opinion because the GTFO crowd (of which I am one) is basing their opinion on lower traffic density of US interstate and secondary highways as well as European highways. It's very easy to stay to the right and only go in the left to pass, even on two lane...
Exactly. Do you really trust a company or the government not to screw you somehow with this? Once a critical mass of people accept this as the norm then they can easily mandate it. Then push it further. Go 1 km/h over the limit? Ticket. And there's nothing anyone would be able to do about it...
Bingo. You know, I don't even mind when someone goes slowly in the middle lane. And if its a bit congested that can be expected. I have no problem slowing down a bit in the middle lane in that case because I'm not willing to accelerate to the speed required to be safely in the passing lane...
That's because they probably opened it up and got hit hard by tickets already. They can't afford more! (I'm in that situation with the bike, haha.
That's why I cruise in the right lane at 110 or 115 most of the time.
I wouldn't expect that at all.
People who scratch or dent other people's cars need to own up to their mistakes; simple as that. If they can't afford to fix their mistake, then that person should learn to drive better or stop driving. I was happy to help out when I did and would hope (but not...
Why would you pay both? You can't ride them at the same time. I guess I can see having to pay fire/theft on the cheaper one but that's not much at all.
How does insurance work on them? For example, if you have an S1000RR and a CBR125R, would you pay the higher of the two insurance costs? Or would you pay in the middle? Or do you declare how much you ride them both and pay percentage?
Not looking for a second bike now, just curious.
